Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

If that’s the case why hasn’t he put in a written transfer request? I will tell you why, doing that means he and his agent give up all the money owed to them to move on, The reason why they haven't is they want the money from us and the move to Liverpool plus money, as I said his agent has pushed most of this, seeing his golden goose moment.
You're in serious denial mate. A senior, experienced player who is a multi millionaire is not being dragged around by his agent. Isak has decided he wants to leave and while I don't doubt his agent is fully supportive of the decision, it won't have been made by him. He's a fully grown adult who is accountable for his own decisions.

And I've replied this transfer request point in a post earlier. If he has any kind of loyalty payments in his deal that can be voided by a transfer request then I have no doubt that Newcastle could void them now. Newcastle haven't and wouldn't even if he puts a formal request in because it doesn't benefit them. You're in a position of trying to make the best of a bad situation and if that ends up being Isak staying then you aren't going to want to upset him even more. And if he does end up leaving these loyalty payments will be small potato* and no doubt given up from his side.

*I'd guestimate that any loyalty payment he is due would amount to less than a weeks wage if he were to join us.

I don’t see why I’m in denial, because I’m sure it’s agent driven, I have no doubt he will go, if it were up to me though he would rot in the reserves.

Because you believe that the root cause for this situation is his agent. I've said it numerous times before when we see supporters attack agents in these situations, agents work for players and and everything that has happened will have been done so with Isak's full knowledge and consent. We're not talking about a 15 year old academy player from a poor family, this is a 25 year old multi millionaire. I have no doubt that Isak's agent will advising him how best to force a move and will want the move as much as Isak does but nothing happens without Isak's say so. As I said, Isak (like any player in the same situation) is 100% accountable for this.

And unlike you, I actually think a deal this summer is looking less likely. I've said all along that it only happens if Newcastle sign some replacements and I've also questioned whether we'd go to the sort of figure you'd want to sell him. And I suspect the ramping up of pressure from Isak's end is because the chances of a deal happening have reduced, probably due to you missing out on Sesko and he's now pushing for you to sell regardless of a replacement coming in. If I had to put a bet on the outcome from here, I'd probably lean towards him sulking for a month before being eased back into the side and then ultimately moving to us in January or next summer once you've got your house in order.

So the same song and dance we've seen hundreds of times... Player wants to leave, agent feeds to media mouthpieces to kick up a fuss, agent takes the fall, fans blame the agent, player is protected. Perceived blame for many fans lies with the agent, which is exactly part of their job and why players pay agents mega money.

Can't believe many fans still can't see this is case now, just as it is like always.

And similarly I can't understand why some people seem to believe that everyone uses this aside from their sweet innocent club.

It's a good way to turn a player's head. All clubs do it. I don't even get why that's a debate

Well this transfer window hasn’t disappointed! And just think most of the business is only going to get started hah

Reports coming out that we've opened talks with Palace re Guehi and we're also after Parma’s Giovanni Leoni. Assuming there's no late twist re Ibou and Gomez is hanging around, we could end the window with 5 CB's which seems a bit much. It would free up Gomez to also cover RB, in turn freeing up Frimpong as your Salah cover.

Can't wait for Isak to be stuck at Newcastle, end up crawling back to Eddie Howe saying he's sorry, wants to play (after being told his Sweden place is at risk if he's not playing regularly of course) and then scoring and celebrating in front of the St James Park crowd. Bonus points if he beats the badge or kisses it.

Not overly enthusiastic about Leoni. Italians rarely travel to the prem well, he's young tho so fingers crossed he can learn.

And then you woke up?

Funny, I'd say 4 centre backs probably seems too few if one of them is Gomez, Even konate seems to have a month or so off every year with injury.

It's a difficult one because at various points through the season all 5 could potentially be available and finding minutes for all of them could prove very difficult. I suspect in an ideal world the club would like to move Gomez on, particularly if they could bring in 2 CB's.

As a one off season carrying 5 CB's wouldn't be the end of the world. As you say you've got the fitness issues around Gomez and to a lesser extent Ibou, this Leoni chap is just 18 and not somebody you'd want to rely much on in the short term and as I mentioned, the extra defensive cover can indirectly offer us a bit more cover in attack too.

I still wonder if Konate will go this window or Jan maybe. Dont know much about this Leoni guy. Gomez, well not really fussed about him, he isnt good enough for a top4 team imo so fine if he stays, fine if he goes.

To be fair, Isak could play 1 league match all season and he would still be in the Sweden team, they arent going to go to a World Cup and not bother to play Isak, regardless of how much he has or hasnt played this season.

I'd be surprised if he were to leave and still think there's a chance he renews. I don't see anybody offering us enough whereby it makes sense for us to let him go this summer, even if that means he leaves for nothing next summer. Gomez is fine, when he's available plus his versatility might be needed if we go into the season without any cover for Salah.
Is Guehi a good CB now, then??
Depends what you mean by good. I don't mind him as a squad option but don't see him as a long term successor to either Konate or VVD.
