New Build Advice - White PC Build

Whats the opinions on the following build for the Girlfriend. She wanting a white build and something thats futureproof for upgradeability for next 4-6 years

If you put a 360mm aio in the front of that case it reduces the max GPU length to 300mm but the arctic has a 11mm thicker radiator than the standard 27mm on most aio so effectively 289mm.

The the asrock 9070xt is 298mm in length so you need to change something .


Could save £40 if you swap the PSU to this .

If you not fussed about usb4 then look at the b850 motherboards to save money th n you up the CPU to a 9800x3d with the changes advised

You could shuffle things around a bit and get a 9800X3D setup with a larger NvME for a good deal less money.

White tax is doing a number on you GPU wise but there's not much you can do about that.

As mentioned, unless you really need USB4 you gain nothing from an expensive X870 over a B850.

I would , 240mm aio is plenty for these CPUs.


Take a look at the ante flux case £99 comes with 5 fans so could save you a bundle.

I know cases and fans are personal choice/aesthetics and all that, but this could be done a lot cheaper.

I'd suggest going with at least 48GB for a long-term build, preferably 64GB. It is true that you can theoretically just add more memory later, but user experiences with running 4 sticks have not been great.

Put that AIO in the bin and go back to a Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro, get a normal B850, and not a scene tax one, there are grey/white MSI's available for £160-180 IIRC, with Wifi7/PCI-E 5.0 etc.
Then use the bonus money you've saved to upgrade anything else you fancy, like going to a 9070/9070XT if funds allow

notwithstanding you have 2x £180 power supplies, bringing down your total build cost to an actual £1443...is still absolutely poor value to only have a 9600x and a 9060XT 16GB
IMHO, you're spending a lot on parts that don't matter once you hit that performance ceiling (the most offending components: psu, cl28 ram, cooler)

well technically, i just tweaked my original proposal based on gray's recommendation of 9070XT and (begrudgingly, because i know it's not needed) stolen the 1kw psu off tetra's spec

I'm not sure if it needs reseating or it's just because they had the heating in the house set to 45° (was seriously nearly sweating just sat down) but the pa120 wasn't doing as good a job as I would have hoped on the 9800x3d and hitting thermal throttle in OCCT..
