Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

Depends what you mean by good. I don't mind him as a squad option but don't see him as a long term successor to either Konate or VVD.

He isn't going to go there and sit on the bench, surely. I recall posting something last year about how I liked him, but because he looked like he was off to Newcastle, I got a load of stats sent my way from 'Pool fans to why he was a poor CB and gets beaten in the air a lot :D

You’re talking about a genuine Liverpool target now, so of course he’s the best alive and going to be the perfect replacement for vvd

I'm sure the sell to him won't be that he's coming to sit on the bench but equally I doubt he's been given guarantees that he'll be first choice. There will be enough games and we'll rotate enough (+ injuries) so he'll get games but I'd be surprised if he's first choice in the biggest games.

Re the aerial stuff, I know it wouldn't have been me that replied to you at the time but his size is the one thing that concerns me about him. With Frimpong and Kerkez at fullback + Mac Allister in midfield, we're not the biggest side these days and will need our CB's to dominate at set-plays.

I think Ekitike is about 6ft 10 or something, so just need to train him to defend as well :)

To be fair, Isak could play 1 league match all season and he would still be in the Sweden team, they arent going to go to a World Cup and not bother to play Isak, regardless of how much he has or hasnt played this season.

Yeah, very superficial analysis by anyone suggesting that Isak is going to be worried about his World Cup place now or come September 1st. There's a lot that will happen between now and then and not playing between May and January this year won't have any bearing and he'll know that. They'd probably take him if he doesn't play a game all season.

VvD will need his minutes managed as he starts to get old and Konate likes a few weeks off here and there. There's plenty of minutes without him being a long term replacement for anyone other than Quanash who made 25 appearances last season It's fair to suggest Slot would turn to Guehi more often than him.

its ok gyokeres will score the goals, he's already got a better scoring record for sweden
Considering the majority of Isak's games for Sweden were when he was 21/22 or under and the majority of Gyokeres goals have come in his last few games I wouldn't read too much into it.

He does like scoring against Estonia and Azerbaijan though, I'll give him that.

He will definitely get guarantees, you'd think, pivotal for England.
Even if we sign this Italian kid, he'll end up being one of the first 3 CB's. Between resting/rotating Ibou and VVD + injuries and Cup games, he's could have 30+ starts. In the very biggest games when everyone's available? I'd be amazed if it's not Konate alongside VVD. Obviously that's assuming nothing happens with Ibou before the end of the window.

So theres a lot of talk about the price for Guehi being 35m....we sold Quansah for 35m, so basically a straight swap Quansah out for Guehi in, 0 net spend. In my books thats a terrific deal :)

If Forest were signing Guehi for that I'd be delighted.

Even though we've got one of the best CB pairings in the league already, Guehi has always looked class for England.

Yup, 35m for an England international CB, who has only just turned 25 and is a club captain. In todays climate, thats a bargain imo.

Reports coming out that we've opened talks with Palace re Guehi and we're also after Parma’s Giovanni Leoni. Assuming there's no late twist re Ibou and Gomez is hanging around, we could end the window with 5 CB's which seems a bit much. It would free up Gomez to also cover RB, in turn freeing up Frimpong as your Salah cover.
Gomez isn’t fit enough so discount him we could have 4

Taken from a forum, from a guy that’s quite close to the club, gets a lot right so I would trust what he says,
Spoken to a lot of people over the last few days, some of which are extremely close to the goings on.

Main takeaways:

- Ignore the media and daily stories. It’s all agent / Liverpool talk. Very few things, if anything, are coming from Newcastle’s end.

- The stories about him wanting out / telling the club he wanted out before the season finished are ********. It was reiterated to me (I think I’ve mentioned this on here before) that Isak played a big part and was one of the main voices encouraging Elanga to join in late June. See his “heart” comments on Elanga’s Instagram at the time.

- The players want him gone. His behaviour has been far too disruptive, and he has burned a lot of bridges. He has lost a lot of respect within the squad, despite them opening the door to him a number of times, pre and post Korea.

If it’s true the players want him gone, that only ends 1 way, even though I would like to see him rot in the reserves or sued for breach of contract, and withhold his registration.

Those points dont make much sense to me....if the stories about him wanting out arent true and if the stories are all agent/Liverpool talk and arent from Isak himself...then what is it that the other players have lost respect for him over or found disruptive for them to want him gone? The 3rd item only makes sense if it IS Isak driven.
