Portability is key, and it needs to be fairly bulletproof as he's a bit careless. I also need to borrow it for work occasionally, as some of the graphics packages I run are Windows only.

Budget, max £750.

My graphics software has the following requirements:
Minimum: Windows 10 or higher (64-bit x86), Discrete GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2080 / AMD RADEON VII, 4GB VRAM
Recommended: NVIDIA RTX 4080 or higher

You can get portable and bulletproof for under 750.

You will not be able to get anything with any serious GPU horsepower whilst remaining portable and under 750.

Minimum specs would be something along the lines of an RTX4050 or 4060 laptop. You can get that for the budget. However, the recommended isn't even possible. The fastest laptop you can get is still about -15% the performance of a 4080 and will cost you minimum 3grand.

May I ask what programme it is?

I went with a Galaxy Book 3 in the end (with an S Pen). I had bought an 15.6" Asus TUF 4060, which I really liked using and seemed decent speed-wise, but wasn't going to be great for his needs, so I returned that.
