Keeper is awful, he was brought in as a football playing keeper, and his football skills are woeful, only marginally better than Degea, and he manages to find touchlines from kick-outs a disturbingly high percentage of times, and he is half the keeper degea is. Whilst there, he will continue to bring a sense of nervousness at the back.

Whoever scouted him should be metaphorically shot.

If reports that the PSG keeper can be had for £30M or so (Onana was £47.2M !), whereas the cost of the Brighton guy is looking towards 3 digits, it would be better money (and likely more achievable) to get the keeper.

Also apparently there's a Scottish guy playing for AC Milan nominated for the ballon D'or this year that might be suitable in midfield :)

Nah, keeper isn't that bad for our current ambitions. Donnaruma also has some clangers in his locker. We made a massive mistake by signing a GK off the back of an exceptional CL final performance. Doing the same again but with an even more expensive keeper would be madness.

We need a midfielder far more.

It would 100% be better spent on a midfielder.

If there’s money left over, I hope they get Lammens.
Keeper isn't going to cost you too many places in the league. I don't like Onana but he did have a period last season where he was solid despite some glaring technical weaknesses. I wouldn't underestimate how tough it is to be a keeper at Man United especially in an underperforming team. He near singlehandledly cost us CL group stage in his first season but that aside I don't think he was a disaster. De Gea was our top player for a number of season because the defence was so bad but he had errors in him too - I'll never forget the Brentford game in ten Hag first season where he bungled one into the net. All keepers make errors and they always look awful.

Strikers and midfield will generate far more points than even having Billy the Fish in net. Midfield is way light, in numbers, quality, physicality and removing burden from captain chaos.

Not many keepers I'd consider a definite upgrade on Onana tbh, but Donnarumma is one of them.

All keepers have some absolutely howlers in their repertoire, even top ones like Allison, Ederson, etc. Onana is definitely a bit worse than them......but he's not had a great defense in front of him and we were leaking so much turnover possession last season.

My memories of him last season were some proper howlers in Europe early on and then otherwise pretty solid, some good stopping.

He more often thatn not parries the ball into danger areas though, and he's useless saving with his feet whereas De Gea was awesome at this. If we're carting off Hojlund for not living up to expectations after 2 years then Onana should also be off.

That Spanish keeper, what’s his name, De Gea I think.

He would have been an upgrade on him.

Another one?! I was impressed that the Scottish guy who plays for NAPOLI is nominated for the Ballon D'or. But there's one for Milan as well!

Just finished that interview, comes across well as he always does despite Micah acting the absolute buffoon as usual. Did like the El Tel / Lineker stuff woven in.
I’ve always liked Rashford as a person. Been living the dream there at his boyhood club, but where did it all go wrong for him? I can’t really think of a lad playing at a top team who came through the ranks like this and it ended this way. Shame really. Although tbh it’s “ended” with him at Barcelona, not Carlisle.

Not he fault of the lad but I don't think I can be doing with saying Sesko as Sheshko, as a Brit saying it. It makes me feel like I've got a speech impediment or drunk. :(

1st game of the season and the keeper cost us a point, the need for a keeper is glaringly obvious. Even Amorim has demoted the apparently fully fit Onana to 3rd choice.

His comments before the game about his GK choice made no mention of an unfit Onana, in fact he implied he was fully ready for the game and he simply didn't select him, not even in the squad. It was only after another goalkeeping howler (this time by bayindir) that suddenly Onana lack of match fitness was talked about post match.

Goalkeeping aside, I thought that was the most dynamic Manu team I have seen for quite a while. Refreshing to have someone like Mbeumo who demonstrated an amazing first touch from long balls, and Cunhna was impressive too. This was one of the best teams last year against one of the worst. My baseline hope was that Man U would be competitive. And they certainly were and then some. Without the GK error, utd could have conceivably won that game as goal gave Arsenal the ability to control the the game and bide their time.

Didn't miss the endless side to side play across the back.

From what I gathered is that because Onana had no pre-season he picked the other keepers who have had one. Simple as that. If we are getting a new keeper surely Onana will need to be sold.

Ironically we might have been better just sticking with De Gea at this point. I think with Shaw, Yoro and De-Ligt in-front of him he might have done okay.

We probably would have been better sticking with De Gea, in hindsight, but we know why the club wanted to replace him.

I think the club have decided to stick with Onana for this season and to be honest he did have some good spells, but he's a very unusual goalkeeper. Perhaps with a more confident team and settled defence, he can come good. I wouldn't be putting any money on it, mind you.
