what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Anyone tried the Quad Era-1s?

I have a hankering for an upgrade from my DT 990 250ohms. I have a real soft spot for Quad, I've got a pair of 11Ls sat behind me that I should be selling but I can't bring myself to part with, so may try finding space on my desk for em too :)
Awww man, my brother had a pair of those 11Ls years ago. They're beautiful, get them on the desk if you can. Look at them, and put them to use.

No idea on the headphones though!

They are beautiful, Birds Eye Maple pair in perfect condition. Nice easy listening for working from home too. Need a little amp for em mind.

I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a dongle dac, and of that size. I tried using my Onix Alpha on the go and it's doesn't work for me. I am constantly concerned about the port/cable bending/damage in my pocket. It's too cumbersome to hold both in my hand. I know you can get magsafe holder thing but it's just too big. Also, trying to squeeze out that 1% performance difference vs the Apple Dongle or any of the Jcally ones on the go with all the environmental noises seems redundant. The environmental factor is going to cause a huge detriment to sound quality than the better dongle. So that rules it out on the go.

Not to mention it killing battery of the phone faster.

I have basically relegated the Onix to be like a DAC that i would take somewhere, like on holiday, to the office.

I've been tempted with some wireless headphones to compliment my wired items.
I couldn't justify the price of the XM6 for the use they will likely get so I've opted for a refurbished set of XM4's with a years warranty for £94. Hopefully they live up to the hype for which I think is a decent enough price.

I bought a stand so I could take photos of headphones better lol

Yeah I'm more looking at desktop devices personally but the pairing of the DAC and opamps is a good one but not a common one, maybe not the highest performance ever* but a good combination for open, detailed but also low fatiguing sound.

* The OPA1692 is slew boosted which isn't ideal for audio and primary design focus was on the optimal balance of audio performance for portable use, which would hold it back from competing against some of the highest end solutions, but it is well engineered to compensate for that and the output is very capable of driving even difficult headphones.

The stand chat got me looking on Amazon and this arrived today, My Fat Gorilla bamboo stand. For £12.99 absolutely zero complaints, think I will get another for the Audeze now.

Edit* sharing another song, the strings on this sound so visceral:

I did have that saved from ages ago but the base is just too wide lol.

I was thinking going on top of the X9.

Annoying I can't find one with a narrower base but a curve top. But on the side of my desk I have stuck a couple of these. It's slightly curved/contoured with a rubberised surface, it folds up. Its very discreet when not in use.

There are headphone stands that are just one block of wood shaped like the Hifiman foam inner things, £180 on Amazon.... mental. Personally I don't want stuff that takes up lots of surface area, the one above is wood, looks tasteful and has a dish for cable/adapter or whatever too and all for £13!

I have also come to the conclusion that the HE1000se may as well be my end game now. It's clear that it's all just different flavours of sound signature now at this sort of level, be interesting to see if they scale upwards with more power/current from a different amp if the Ferrum ever turns up. Fiio K15 is the same power output as X9 at 32 ohms so not much of a change, and has AKM Velvet so base signature I bet is nearly the same just it lacks the additional wealth of features and customisation. The K13 R2R we don't know the specs of yet but I'll be surprised if its outputs are higher than the K15 but will buy it to check out when it comes to Amazon out of curiosity like I did the DX5 II.

But yeah, HE1000se is pretty incredible, all without needing to touch any EQ or hardware tuning controls, and that Fosi cable just completed the package for me, still find it hard to believe how light and pliable it is but still high build quality. Eager to see how much Fosi end up charging regular buyers for the i5 too. I predict it will be £500 for the base pack with just the 3.5 and standard 4.4 cable, with an extra £70 or so on top for the cryogenically treated one as Fiio's cryo cable is over $90.

If your eBay auction is anything to go by, it's not going to sell well if the MSRP starts with a 5.

I am all for different flavours now and not chasing better, which is why I am looking at the Bokeh Close. If there is a good deal on the bokeh open then I might get that too as that's supposed to be the HD600, but with better base.

Took delivery of Hifiman HE6 SE v2 yesterday to move into the world of planar coming from DT1990 Pros.

Got a FiiO K7 which most online sources say is enough to drive these but I want to push them further if I can.

Thinking of the below combo, anything better?

Aoshida Topping D10s
Aiyima A07 MAX 2
HifiMAN HE Adapter

Have you tried it with the k7 yet? The spec certainly says it has enough power to listen at relatively loud volumes so unless you have noticed issues like not getting loud enough or the bass frequencies clipping when pushing it then I don't think you will get a benefit.
