Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [15th - 18th August 2025]

City look excellent.

Fer Lopez has looked interesting since coming on. Think wolves might have a player there

Good point away from home but would have been 3 if there was a Striker on the pitch.

Promising signs, Solid defence, midfield and created plenty. Hopefully we sign around 2 more players after Ramsey and it could be a good season!
Yeah great result. Thought we played ok tbh, glaring hole where a centre forward should be.

What is both ironic and annoying as **** is that Isak likely would have bagged a hattrick had the parties approached things differently.

Yup. After the sending off that would have been perfect time to replace Joelinton with Ramsey. So you can see how that signing will fit in.

So, any thoughts on Man Utd and Arsenal today? I am ready to be hurt again, but there seems to a buzz around Man Utd currently. New Carrington, some great signings, pulling out of potential deals that normally would have us bent over and over spending, some bad auras gone with remaining bad ones training away from main squad.

Pre-season showed a little more constructed play from the team, still a way to go though. New signings showing promise. I dunno, are we going to do anything this season? Are we going to do anything today? If we lose today, it will against a good side BUT I want us to put in a good performance, even if just to show us we are improving in some way. I predict a loss unfortunately, but I do have a gut feeling we could win it. We are at home, first game of the new season. Arrgh I have no idea what will happen.

I think we are better but still miles off Arsenal. Pre-seaon was mixed. Some flashes of promise but still quite a lot of disjointed desperate play and gaping holes in midfield. The key it would seem is that Cunha, Sesko and Mbeumo click and take some of the pressure off Fernandes to do everything and instead focus on his position, calm play when required but continue to find killer passes. i suspect that might take a dozen matches to refine. a draw today would be a good start. We need not to lose at home and allow some confidence to return to the supporters. It's a good test to see how far Amorim has managed to bring them.

"It's the hope that kills you"

I dunno, first game of the season could be easier as Arsenal are decent.

Will take a few games for the signings to properly "click" I think.

However, looking forward to this season more than last, as it does seem that things are being done "right" with Amorim.

Such a gulf though in the standings. I hope the usual suspects don't call for Amorim out and EtH back in as per last season luls.

I am expecting a thrashing from Arsenal so anything better than that is a bonus. I have very little faith in Amorim. I saw enough last season. (I am trying the reverse psychology thing honest). ;):(

There is a definite positive buzz and direction of travel around Man Utd at the moment, things are looking up.

However, that can all evaporate in record time if we continue to play like we did last season. Amorim does seem to be getting the benefit of the doubt from the majority of people in football, which is good and slightly surprising.

Today is a tricky one, we could play well and still lose to Arsenal. Sesko is fully fit so I expect Amorim to start him, Hojlund has been left out of the squad.

what a finish

edit. gk probably should save that actually, may have been unsighted slightly though

I'm surprised Chelsea have spent so much and not bothered to upgrade the goalkeeper.

I think VAR got that about right really...
