——The Official Battlefield 6 Thread——

Enjoyed the past two weekends playing the game, definitely felt like this second weekend was a little less enjoyable but that's probably because it's a lot of playtime on just a few maps at this point.

It always astounded me seeing people that were max level running around with a max level shotgun and you realise it's all they've used for every single day of the beta, rather than actually trying and playing around with everything available.

One of the most frustrating combos was the incendiary launcher + shotgun, you'd stun a group and take 80% of their health then just be able to 1 tap every single of them. Hopefully that grenade launcher has the stun duration and damage adjusted, it doesn't feel overly balanced that it can do 75% of the damage that the regular grenade launcher does but also come with a guaranteed stun/slow. Otherwise really enjoyed it! All of the weapons we had felt fun to use and the classes all felt useful too. I do actually hope the weapons are class restricted for this one, I was a bit 50/50 on it before the beta but I found the 'closed weapon' modes played a lot better forcing people to play their roles.

I watched a YT video last night that I thought was also really interesting and highlighted some key points that really have impacted modern games so much recently. Felt it was worth sharing here!

Got all the challenges finished for both weekends yesterday, enjoyed the first beta weekend more as less people spamming shotgun / noob tube and this weekend you had the added bonus of people trying to get on the roof glitch and use that to their advantage, hopefully Dice / EA does something with the streamers that abused this but I doubt it especially after they paid to fly them out to their event.

Still not a preorder for me after this weekend, will wait for launch and see if the 'big' maps they've held back are actually in and worth playing.

Well after a good weekend on BF6 with a few lads in discord who I played CS with in the very early days ,1.1 (showing my age) I've pre ordered, we had an absolute riot playing it, great game with a few tweaks.

Boycotted and haven't shot a shotgun once. Its frustrating to face one in cqb, but mostly because Assault gets two guns. There are no tradeoffs for them for using a shotgun in any way.

After the beta I am not sure if I should buy. On one hand, game works for me. Definitely sunk more time in BF6 over weekends than any game in a long time.
Weirdly, the element that pulls me most is unlocking and leveling up guns. But that won't last for long.
Another weirdly, the best map/mode I liked is Breakthrough on Liberation Peak. The only one where chaos is organised in one direction, no headless chicked running all over conquest maps. No spawns behind your back, danger has a direction. And its satisfying on both sides, maybe except if attack gets bottled up on the first point.
Not that weirdly I wanted to enjoy vehicles and couldn't. Tank/IFV battles boil down to either die fast, or a stationary slug fest with a 2 engi repair team behind you.
Aircraft are fun, but not with every engi having 5? rapid fire stinger missiles.

On paper and on first glance, this is a mix of two battlefields I liked the most, BC2 and BF3. But its missing something.
Some randomness and forgiving mistakes. You noticed an enemy 0.2s later than he did you - dead. No randomness in fire, every bullet lands
Ran out on open ground - sniper gets you, no warning, no chance. Even if you saw him and landed 4 bullets before his (completely unaffected) shot.
Dare to fly over the battle - stinger, boom, dead. Drove close to a hidden mine, no hints no warnings. Dead.

On the other hand, lose a cap point? Who cares. Let an enemy squad flank and place a beacon? So what.
Where is the battlefield part in the Battlefield game? Its a Chokepoint game at best.

The first weekend for me was almost perfect, netcode was fine, no roof glitchers etc . But the second weekend was an awful experience.

Also the new map wasn't battlefield, it was deathmatch with conquest points slapped together

If we're honest with ourselves the whole beta wasn't really a Battlefield game. Felt more like mod for COD trying to make a Battlefield experience but the devs don't really know what makes a good Battlefield game and just blindly followed community feedback and got it wrong

I want to correct that.
In general, the instant death without warning or chance to react is my major gripe with this game. But snipers are not part of that. The ridiculous lighthouses (always plural) are easy to see and are in expected locations. The few battle snipers that kill you in close-medium combat, not from behind a rock, hat off, you deserve those.

Insta-death should be sort of your mistake. Tank mines you had to drive over, claymore you need to walk over. Both you had a chance of seeing or avoiding. For example yesterday had fun with recon C4 vs tanks. If you let recon walk up and plant 4 charges on your tank, your fault.

Can't see the anti-tank jump mine, can't see where stinger came from

Did anyone find the 'pre-game' experience too short as well? We'd load into the map and it would feel like I only had 10 seconds to pick my class/change weapons!

The second week very disapointing, seeing Rush slapped on those maps left a sour taste. Two minds now wait for reviews. And they have to sort the spotting out. Take it its going to have the ribbons/ medals achievements in final release. Am concerned its going the COD route. Only beta, lets see

No complaints about map loading and game starting quickly. Guess you are expected to just pick one loadout and go
Its the useless time after the match, waiting to find next game. Perfect time and place to tinker with loadouts, except you can't.

First weekend the netcode/servers definitely felt smoother for me but other than that it was just more of the same. Roof glitchers didnt bother me at all, they didnt achieve much if anything and they say its already been fixed for release. Its going to be a bit of a battle over the first few months to weed out all of these map glitches etc However I really dont mind this type of thing. Using maps creatively is fine by me even if the locations were not by design supposed to be accessed. The skybox walking stuff is a step too far IMO though.

The NYC map was not the best by any margin. I hated it to begin with but it slowly grew on me. It works well in breakthrough and its mediocre for Conquest. some of the points are far far to close to spawn though.

Thats your opinion. Felt pretty damn battlefield to me and will be a definite buy. Last one I liked was BF4. I played BF2 and 2142 but the Bad Companies and BF3/4 is where the sweet spot was for me. Everything after just didnt click for me. Its not perfect by a long shot, whether they fix the main issues and balance it right remains to be seen and I think the beginning will be rough as new glitches/exploits/balance issues are found by the community. However its the most promising BF I've played in a decade.
I even got my mate who hasnt been following any of the news/hype to install it, his last BF expereince was BF1. His immediate reaction was its just a shiny BF3. He loved what little he played of it but was getting Secure boot issues, he had enabled it but it stopped working for him on Saturday.

Yes a little short. Especially if you had just unlocked a bunch of weapon attachments the previous round. Wasnt too much of an issue though, I just did what I had to do then spawned on squad.

Rush could be left out of the full release for all I care. It was by far the worst game mode of the whole Beta that I played. It just didnt work at all with the map selection we had. However, its of no consequence, if it still sucks at release I just wont play Rush.
I think the fact that they only had one day of the Rush on the playlist speaks volumes. That they knew it was going to be controversial.

Press Y on keyboard as you spawn in and you can do your loadout, less messing about with loading screens is great.

The big longer term issue with cheats is going to be cheats based on computer vision AI models - where you run a local AI model in the background that controls your mouse input and aims for you to kill enemies, and since it doesn't touch the game files or memory at all, it becomes extremely hard to detect by current anti cheat software. You could even run the AI on a seperate PC, which the anti cheat can never see

Although I wont be there at release, I'll be watching it and this thread with interest. Not so much for release day feedback, more to see how its faring and what the opinions are, 1 month after release. Thats where my curiosity lies, in how well its thought of 4 weeks later. That will be a useful indicator of whether or not there will be a decent population still playing when I finally start playing it next year

Is there a settings file for all the adjustments made to the options in game? I have a user.cfg in the main game directory, but that's different. I played the beta on EAapp but would like to purchase on steam.

edit: found it:
