We didn't stick with DDG because he was making howlers on the regular as well, was poor in the air and with his feet and was on an absurd salary that we couldn't get him to reduce to a level befitting his performances. i.e about £130k vs £350k or whatever insane salary he was on.

People as usually seem to forget all of this with DDG, and have very short memories in football in general. He consistently punted the ball out of play and into the other teams possession. Incredible shot stopper, in-particular with low shots using his feet and was a lovely guy. Just not what is needed for premier league keeper today.

Onana is a worry for me, i think his shot stopping ability is incredibly average, the saves he makes are those very close to him. He can pass the ball we know that but the former along with his absolute love a howler is giving me little hope.

Hot take here….:)

Bayindir was actually pretty good apart from getting pushed around on that corner. Some nice distribution and didn’t have any other moments that I recall.

Not good enough, obviously. He should done an Onana special and superman punched it away and cleaned out the defender in the process :P

Dega was bad on penalties, and his distribution was awful. Even in the recent friendly, he was nearly caught in possession. However Onana also finds touch a lot when kicking long/semi long, and is not a patch on Degea in terms of stopping shots.

It is worth remember that in 2022-2023, the season he left, Degea won the golden glove for the most clean sheets.

We can but hope that with more nature ball takers in the team now, Onana would be exposed as much.

Said the same - gave the lad the benefit of the doubt as he was bound to be shell shocked from the number of attempts we were facing. But even when the we were facing less shots he was still prone to throwing one in to his own net when under little or no pressure.

Yeah, this is why I don't think ultimately that we are getting a new keeper. Onana is fine for our current expectations. He won't be come next summer if we are back in european football and have progressed in the current project and he hasn't massively improved but a CM is far more important right now.

I don't know if we will buy any more unless we sell honestly. Antony, Sancho and Garnacho sagas are going to rumble on until the end of the window with their prospective buyers hoping United become desperate.

Indeed, the touted value that Chelsea have put on Garnacho is laughable. £25m…

It should be at least be comparable to Madueke and Elanga, if not more.

Yeah, if they want to cut their nose to spite their face then go for it. We're not going to sell him for a silly fee just because we don't want him. Chelsea constantly flog players they don't want and they don't magically offer them around at 50%.

Indeed. He’s also not on a huge wage, so we can just keep ahold of him if we don’t get a decent offer and it gives Utd a good opportunity to show we won’t bend over to demands just because we want to get rid.

Ongoing saga I know but we REALLY need rid of Garnacho / Sancho

Seems to be dragging on more that I hoped it would.

Sancho probably won't get sold and will either rot in the reserves for a year before becoming a free agent next summer or will go somewhere on a loan then become a free agent.

Garnacho won't be sold this window IMO. Chelsea are taking the **** with their valuation and Garnacho doesn't seen to want to go anywhere else. He might go in January depending on whether he is willing to move to another club or if Chelsea decide they need him and are willing to pony up.

Both will go on deadline day, but with very little money coming Utd's way.

Garnacho will eventually consider other clubs and Utd will accept a lower offer to avoid selling to Chelsea, maybe hoping to add a reasonable sell on clause.

yeah - Sad to see footballers just wasting away their talents but at the same time not unexpected when on ridiculous wages whether they play or not....

Yeah, Sancho will never get paid as well as he has been at United even when hes in theory coming into his peak and is likely going to be negotiating as a free agent. Thats precisely why you don't give players insane contracts who haven't done anything to deserve it. Even giving silly wages to the likes of Casemiro is idiotic let alone someone with know attitude issues. The mind genuinely boggles as to the lack of common sense displayed at the club.

Its like we had X amount to spend on wages and we just thought, **** it, lets max it out regardless of who we max it out on.

Saudi’s are said to to be in for Fernandez again. Offer is £33 million a year, apparently, I’d let him go myself.

Yeah if they are offering £100m we have to take it. Hes reaching the point where he is going to slow down and we already need a different balance in midfield. I love the guy but that offer is too much to turn down for him and he doesn't fit into the current side.

Can’t see him leaving this season, it’s too late in the window and the discord and impact to the ‘good feeling’ / formative thing they have going would be too great as he’s integral to it. Next season, sure.

Agree though about the actual games, he makes the whole team a little awkward.

Yeah, I don't think he will actually go...but he should.
