This Instant And Moment - 2025!

Just saying I have no strong demand for an arms embargo, believe that the RAF for excellent work protecting our country and only have an embarrassment about the protestors giving succour to terrorists.
Huh. Passed a march of several hundred protestors this afternoon marching in support of palestine with placards and flags not the town centre mostly suburban and all white folks. Seemed very peaceable and no police. Seems feelings are running high.

Ive been doing the same. A million things to do in the house and in life generally, but ive recently moved to Cornwall and the weather has been lovely so i've just thought **** it and have been visiting/walking all the beaches and having gin and tonics in lovely places overlooking the waves.

I figure that I may as well make the most of the weather, before we all get plunged into 6 months of darkness, cold and rain.

Absolutely. Jobs can wait. Especially on a weekend. Get so few weekends like this one just been.

We have a cleaner now which basically saves me a morning. I've of the best luxuries I have.
That gives me back a whole quarter of my weekend. Which is well worth it.

I can catch up with dishwasher, tidying, clothes washing next couple of days.
Today is grim and drab, a good day for it.

And yeah, you never know if September will be good or not. Once thing living here teaches you, make the most of now. Because our weather is so random.

Its been super dry though. Today is overcast but I bet it won't rain.

I’m going to try to see the dentist this week. I’m out of ideas though. Do we try crown number 4? Take the tooth out? May even be time for a new dentist, he seems out of ideas himself. Despite it now having a hole in he’ll no doubt want to leave it to break off naturally. I’m getting tired of paying in full for it too.

We’ve made the decision to remove the tooth. The options he presented were reasonable and there don’t seem to be many avenues left to pursue. Just before the bank holiday weekend too :(

Planning the next work trip to Ommen - which looks to be tulip field/countryside / river esk/ windmills

Waiting for the heat pump folks to tell me whether they can fix our HVAC or we need a new unit.

My guess: goodbye three thousand dollars :(

e: actually, for 3 grand I could probably fly @Diddums over here and he could sort it out for a pint and a kebab.

Partner wasn't feeling well so I picked up some lamb on the way home and chucked something together.

Good lord, it might be the tastiest thing I've ever cooked. The magic of lamb fat. Two entire (small) bulbs of garlic probably helped.

Currently sat on the sofa feeling slightly emotional.

So I was riding in to work this morning. Must have been doing about 28km/h going through the road in to the city and I clock a nice lady. I look over my shoulder as I ride past and she's on the opposite side of the road.. and she waved .

Damn it why do I never get waved at when I have the opportunity to grab a number :(

Undoubtedly I will probably never see again

Brilliant. Previous landlord is currently spamming local facebook groups claiming i've stolen €4k of stuff when moving out. Not a clue where she's getting these figures from. From conversations in the local village it seems she's a nutjob in general who loves to create a victim complex but this is something else!

We moved out and she began messaging asking for where things were. I explained we'd thrown a lot out as we'd previously discussed. She had moved out and left a lot of broken/ruined furniture (not to mentioned a pile of dog **** all over the garden. I posted about this on here at the time). At the time of us moving in she apologised for leaving a mess. To start with i sent her photos of things which were broken and she said to get rid of them, then there were some other things i only discovered broken later on and just threw out. Probably my naivety to have done this as i've not really rented before and didn't pay attention to the locals warning me she was a nutter.

She sold the house whilst we were tenants and seemed to change when we said we couldn't move out until we found alternative accommodation and agreed we'd leave before the end of the contract early as soon as we could. The new buyers then came round a few times and then also asked her to remove all the remaining rubbish that was left that i hadn't got rid of. She then went mental at the buyers and insisted they either take it all or nothing. To the point she removed some rubbish mdf shelves in a utility room and all ceiling fans/lights. The buyer also asked to have some spare tiles for the floor as she wanted to turn a bathroom into a walk-in shower for her disabled husband. Our landlord then went out of her way to try and find someone to take the tiles!

I think part of the reason is that we told the buyers about various things which were wrong in the house that they insisted on being fixed before completion. Given the seller actively tried to hide some of these gives me the impressions she's just being spiteful and annoyed we were honest.

Part of her claim is €1500 for a robot pool cleaner, which the weekly pool cleaners told us was broken. Again, probably my naivety to throw it away when it didn't take up that much space. No idea on her valuation though because it's only €300 brand new and i've seen them for sale around €70 in boxed, new condition. I did offer her money for that but she ignored any requests and just keeps parroting that it was worth €1500.

She had previously threatened to go to the police if i didn't pay her, and i said she was welcome to, and that i wasn't willing to continue the conversation. For her to let me know the final utility bills and i'd pay them but that if she wanted anything else to just go to the police. Presumably she's not happy about her threats going ignored!

Should be an interesting few weeks. My approach is to just continue to ignore her and not engage on facebook. My wife feels we need to take some action, but i'm not really sure what benefit comes of that. The whole thing will blow over when she's bored and i couldn't care less if some idiots believed her.

I've got in touch with the current landlord to give them the heads up. Said i'm happy to increase their deposit or have more regular check ins etc to allay any concerns. We're their first tenants after they moved to Madrid for work, so don't want them worrying about things and i'm confident we'll leave the place in excellent condition.

Just noticed on the latest Street View update past my house there is a VW Type 2 T2 campervan behind the Street View car which I'm 99% sure is my grandparent's old van which would be a little bizarre given this is a relatively out the way spot. Can't be 100% sure but from what I can make out it still appears to have 1-2 distinctive modifications my grandad made to it.

Unfortunately a relative parted with it for £500 after they passed away - if they'd held on to it just a little longer those things fetch good money if in good condition and as my grandad owned a garage his was kept in perfect condition.

@Martynt74 What fun! Our last landlord tried to retroactively raise the rent when we moved out. We refused and, despite issuing a final settlement on the deposit, he invented a whole bunch of new things to charge for. I wanted to go to court but my wife got cold feet and we ended up settling for just enough to pay our solicitor. Worked out nicely for the solicitors, I guess.

I'm currently trying to work out what to do. A lot of people locally have said that police in Spain take defamation/slander very seriously and i should put in an official complaint against her. These villages are very small and so being thought of as someone who'd do that could cause a lot of reputational damage.

Luckily we were in the pub last night for our Spanish group class, and a few people mentioned that they'd seen people they knew who's commented on the post and got in touch with them sticking up for us. Including the woman who bought the house and has also been screwed over by the same woman. She has also been blocked by the seller!

This is why our cat gets his own chair and a blanket.

The one thing you can be sure of with our cats is that they'll do the opposite of anything you plan for them. Honestly, given the trouble we've been having lately, I'm just glad they hadn't ****** everywhere.
