what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Yea, there were two releases. The Precision in 1993. And then the Jubilee special edition in 1995. The latter is very limited and has a carbon fibre paint job.

EDIT: I forgot the Jubilee debuts the metal grille. Where as the Precision has the plastic grey grilles. I imagine the Jubilee is worth much more because it was very limited.

It’s the plastic one, I think it’s the precision.

580 Precision, or the special edition 580 Jubilee?

I've read some even prefer it to the 600 although again it's going to be subtleties I imagine.

As well as my marbled 2015 pair I've got some very old HD600s probably from around launch, can't be bothered to dig them out to get a picture, which are not marbled and more like the 580 in headband style, not sure if they were modified or repaired by the previous owner as they are no longer around to ask. If it wasn't for the 600 badges I'd have thought they were 650s.

EDIT: Though they would predate the 650s by quite a few years.

Made sense to me after asking the question as you mentioned those plastic grilles. You see a trickle of the Precision on eBay, but never the Jubilee. I think it's correct saying the Jubilee is even closer to the 600 which makes sense.

I vaguely remember when I got into the hobby in 2010/11 and got my HD 598s that there were two HD 600s available on Amazon; the marble tops and the grey (as you say like the 650) version. Identical other than the colour scheme. For years I thought of them as a potential upgrade before going down a different path of AKGs, Beyers etc.

Either that or I'm imaging it. Again you see lots of marble tops on eBay, but other then post-2019 HD 600s no grey ones.

Anyone else find the first thing they do after a fresh shower is sit down and put headphones on? The best feeling

I just mean in a fresh feeling kind of way not a manky sweaty mess kind of way lol, like putting on brand new socks, that fresh feeling is always there with headphones after a shower

I think it's usually because I either shower first thing in the morning before going to work or last thing at night before bed. So headphones straight after a shower almost never happen.

I wish more amps had physical toggle switches, part of the cool factor that feels great to interact with is on the PA7,. when I have a headphones session I turn the PA7 off else it just stays running hot even idle, but it's never a chore because the act of interacting with the toggle switch feels/sounds good, that's also what appealed to me about the Fiio K15/K17 with their toggle switch dials - It's why I prefer the X9's volume dial over the other amps too, that physical action, the sound of the R2R relays and feel of the ratchet etc.

Seems most things now are buttons with menus and screens to change common modes that IMO should be physical switches.

That Esc keycap looks cool.

I remember having this conversation about the Fiio K5 Pro vs. the K11. I also rather more simple DAC/AMPs with physical controls, but that probably won't be the case with the K13, or K15 by the looks of it.

It's George Clooney trapped in space, he cannot.... Escape :D

It looks more like Matthew McConaughey falling into Gargantua.

Fosi amps have analogue volume pots though which means low volume channel imbalance :o

Personally not encountered a situation yet where I can't adjust my setup to avoid the low volume channel imbalance - I can distinctly hear it on some setups until past about 1/3rd volume.

So I finally bought the HD 600 and added it to my collection today. I was in conversation with someone on eBay about buying a 2016 marble top, but decided to order new in the end.

On some tracks I prefer the warmer, darker 650, but on others the 600 airiness wins. There's been a few times that added sparkle of the 600 is noticeable, but it has the better vocals and guitars. And that neutrality is magical. On the Gremlin the 600 sounds beautiful just like its siblings. My curiosity would love to hear a JAR650, add some of those custom Malvix Grilles I can't get in the UK, or pick up a 580. However I think I need to stop now with the HD 6x0 no matter how much I've adored exploring them. Although it is going to be fun listening to the 600 more over the coming weeks and months.

As an aside I noticed those Linsoul Tripowin Granvia cables for the 6x0 series are no longer available on Amazon which is a real shame as they were fantastic value for money compared to the custom cable options.
EDIT: 22/08/25 - scratch that, suddenly pops up on Amazon again this morning; in a limited time deal for £36. So who knows with that.

Nice, HD600 and tube amp is end game imo!

It was an LCD-5 kind of evening, several hours of music listening to almost every genre I can handle. I still maintain that, at least through the X9, the HE1000se is the more enjoyable and detailed experience, but the LCD-5 does something to the mid range that makes me want to still listen to it for extended sessions every so often.

I now have the JM1 Harman filters PEQ set and then enabled: 60% stereo width to subtly expand the soundstage (default is 50%), boosted the treble tone control by +1.5dB and reduced the mids by -0.5dB. This has balanced out the areas I felt were lacking from the PEQ profile baseline. It's still not perfect, but it is better than the previous faffing.

A track that really shines on them is this from the Cyberpunk 2077 OST since it's the type of track that suits intimate presenting headphones:

And also this classic, seems old music that had very distinct left and right channel placement works well for the LCD-5. I am not using Crossfeed any more by the way.

(Don't play in the embedded player, it's lower quality than via the Spotify app).

Also the way the light plays off the deep gloss wood
