£3-3.5K 5090 Advice Needed

I found them - just couldn't work out of whether they were mats or ornaments from pic (see edit - i changed description about 10 times as i couldn't describe them properly).

Any significance? (if not too personal). Made me really smile when you randomly introduced them during your clips.

I don't really get a say when it comes to house design unfortunately! just agree with what the Mrs thinks is best and usually works out well for me! yeah what's not to love about a unicorns head trying to power a dead pc!

Hehe, as long as you can clarify your wife or daughter isn't called Unicorn - it's all good :D

Are you suggesting that some partners do?

I get to do the SketchUp designs, down to the mm - and then lose all control.

Bit more progress today!

Missed the delivery for the 2tb ssd.....so ended up just putting my current one in and will update them when it arrives!

I remember when i first seen a 2080 i couldn't believe how big it was....then i put it next to the 5080!!

Also making the most of free child labour aswell she stripped the older fans out for me

Ran a few tests and so far seems solid and stable but i havnt loaded any games or give it a good go yet

Tomorrow i think is amputation day....

Not a bad setup under the stairs. Missing my 3rd monitor but all in time!

so far...so good

Operation completed... 0 casualties in the process...

Fits like a glove...

Few niggles,

Windows 11 install being a pain should have jist formatted the old one before introducing the new 1 etc but ill figure it out..

Tinkering abit with the fans seems a smidge louder than expected my old fan control software doesnt seem to work with the x870

Buy yeah overall ran cyberpunk benchmark etc and its holding up pretty well!

Yes, you should have. You b*stardise a desk - very neatly I might add - and, yet you don't do a fresh install - tut tut :D

Nice job - looks great. Enjoy.

Pleased with look of case?

*No unicorns...

EDIT: That really is a very neat cut/sanding! No, jagged edges or splintering of paint. I expected it to look slightly incongruous but the eye is hardly confused at all; due to cut height and competency of cut - nicely done!

Niiiiice! I was skim reading this last page and was immediately annoyed at the previous leg being there, haha you red my mind!
Your desktop mess of icons/folders, gives me anxiety though

Thank you all as usual for the help and guidance! got there in the end just missing a leg 'tis but a scratch'

was running cyberpunk on high/ultra etc and its smooth as butter. not had a chance to test Premier pro etc but from what I've seen so far its a juicy upgrade!

I did do a new fresh install!! and formatted my older M2 but the bios was being a bugger wasn't letting me select the new drives location etc I ended up having to just remove every other drive and do a new install and then introduce the rest - is a ball ache having to remove the gpu to access the nvme slots but its not something that will happen very often!

oh and I did sneak a unicorn into 1 of my pictures.....

ty for the compliments Plec on the surgery! waited for the Mrs & kid to take the dogs for a walk then I used a grinder....slow & steady and a nice file down seems to have done the trick nicely!

Just going to keep an eye on the gpu market really and see what the next 5080>??? step up will be. Maybe at a push get a new mouse & some updated fans didnt like reusing some older ones but time will tell

Oh and bonus points words of advice to any couples out there - I originally told the Mrs it was going to be 3/3.5K so when I said it was "only" 2.5K she was happy! better to overestimate it seems!

Really? I just can't see it.

Ah, i was looking at your last post.

I've got to ask - and don't feel you have to answer - what is it with the subtle unicorn theme?

*The bobbing plushy that went across the screen years ago, during your most stressful time, was priceless. That's what made me determined to stick with you.

haha I think it was very late and I was in the midst of a mental breakdown & another stripping down of the computer and they seemed to help us out at the time become a mascot!

this time I feel good luck was brought (or passed over to your dishwasher sorry!)...

long may it last!

Amateurs like me would be lost without the likes of forums like this so thanks again everyone always grateful

You can kinda tell when someone is a time waster or taking the pee when you do this sort of thing for awhile. I don't think for a moment that you were in that avenue and @Plec and co very much saw the same.

You're one of the few people we have that update and show results, let alone the build process after getting advice, that's hugely appreciated and wonderful to see.

Happy to see things worked out, lovely build too!
