EV general discussion

Can you add something to this thread please rather than just relentless questions and misinformation. Kthx
it's not rocket science to understand , per the multiple on-track replies -
you need to do confirm you have an acceptable mobile signal - how does/did his contractor verify/guarantee this , or you yourself with some pre-work.

If you actually read the topic you will see (on the last page between your posts!!!) you can simply buy/order a charger that uses an ethernet connection to grab instructions from the server.

Please read (and do your own research) instead of endlessly corrupting the topic

Is that an Elroq? What do you think of it?

If I bin off my IPace and stick with EV only, I quite like these.

It really isn't. There is a reason they are 10k used.

What’s wrong with it ? Pretty much same as our Corsa and that’s been fantastic. The ones I had as a loan cars were ok tbh great value if only £10k. Old Mokka was awful new one is pretty decent.

They are horribly inefficient in the winter, most of the 50kWh Stellanits cars share the same issue. Don't get me wrong inside they are OK, but when you can get a slightly older Kia e-Niro with a better warranty and kit on it it is no contest. If you are super picky about low mileage then loads of Mokka's out there, not so much with the Kia's. If it is a first BEV you need to go in eyes open and know the failings before you start and end up disappointed.

They are still good for 150-160 miles in the winter don’t see that as a major issue unless you are doing daily long journeys they also come standard with a heat pump which helps. Not had our Corsa over winter yet but it’s a second car for ferrying kids around so all good. We have the ionic for anything needing bigger or longer drives.

Tbh for £10k with 8 year battery warranty Mokka seems a decent choice to me but not for everyone I suppose. After helping my friend with his Kia issues and the lack of care or even commitment to their warranty I personally wouldn’t touch one. But everyone has different experiences.

damn, i'm going to plug in my tesla to a granny charger tonight. hope it doesn't set my home on fire!
in other news, EV charge point install scheduled for 24/09...was initially 09/09 but i'm on holiday and octopus did not have anything sooner, so it'll have to be after holiday

These granny chargers do take a load https://photos.app.goo.gl/9g2ns7pehYqz7BdR9 lesson learned, nearly up in flames, and now have a new CU in the garage and a 32a commando socket on the outer wall...

Eesh, be careful. Lots of warnings on the very thread about knowing the quality of the electrics before you leave it unsupervised for a longer period of time. Hopefully others may learn from this, 6A if uncertain. GLad you are sorted now with proper connectol

I did it loads and never had a problem - you just have to reduce the current below 10 amps. 8 is probably a good figure to go with!

To be fair the temperature sensor in the plug can't really do much when it is 20m away from the source of the problem attached to an extension lead.

This is the Ev equivalent of saying how you nearly burned to death while fuelling up your car... by carrying 2L plastic coke bottles filled with unleaded from the garage up the road while smoking a ciggy.

ah fair enough. i'll try that.
and my home was rewired 2.5 years ago when i did a full refurb, and new CU etc...so hopefully would be ok fingers crossed

got my rear passenger windows + rear windscreen tinted today
damn it was hard finding a place that will do the full rear windscreen in one piece, but found after a couple of days lol
unfortunately they ran out of 20% tints, so i only had the choice of 5% or 35%...went with the 5% tint in the end as i wanted the rear windows to be darker
ceramic-based tint so visibility from the inside isn't actually that bad, even if it looks nearly completely opaque from the outside
