Warhammer 40k - Dawn of War 4

I absolutely loved DoW 1 and it's many expansions, spent countless hours playing with friends and against AI, with mods and without.

DoW 2 was more like a squad based action RPG on repetitive maps, it had its charm but the outside of running through the main storylines I didn't care for it much.

I got DoW3 for free in a give away and still regret owning it, awful game in almost every respect. Everything felt sponge-like, the constant switching between faction every mission rather than a focus, it wouldn't have been so bad if not for the fact the only only army I even remotely got on with from a playstyle/story perspective was the Space Marines.

If they go back to the roots and make it more like the first with 4 I'll be all over it.

The resurgence of RTS. Loads of what look like quality RTS games coming out over the next years.

I’m glad this is going back to the original formula over what the later sequels turned in to though would like it larger scale like supreme commander.

there's exactly one good dawn of war game (not counting DLC's) and this will not change that.

I'd honestly kill for a SupCom style Warhammer 40K game, pretty sure there's mods out there but it's still not the same.

DoW 2 had a fun single player but plap multi, while I wouldn't say it was a terrible game it wasn't a good Dawn of War and should have been a more focused tactical RPG and not used the DoW name imo.

I want a DoW style fantasy warhammer game :D

I agree. I'd add that I really enjoyed the Last Stand game mode too, but it's not really "Dawn of War". The ability to co-op the campaign was good too.

I'd forgot about Last Stand, actually spent a lot of time in it with a mate and had a blast.

For me back to actual base buiding and development in the skill trees was crucial in the gameplay. Moving away from that in the sequels was a mistake and diluted the overall enjoyment that I experienced from DoW1. Hopefully they will recreated that formula with an updated engine and graphics.

Adaptus Mechanicus is a weird choice for a faction but it is different and a new novelty I guess.
