The last BIOS update I did some of my settings went back to default, can't remember what exactly, maybe memory or OC settings, is this still the case with the last BIOS update, or are you people installing and all settings are the same as before. Cheers

New Bios:

7E49v1A42

2025-06-12

Description:
- AGESA PI-1.2.0.3e released.
- Support all 64GB*4 DRAM chips and optimized 2DPC 1R capability.
- Samsung 4Gx8 chip OC optimized.
- Support future CPU.

I've just come across some info relating to the latest BIOS (v1A42). The AGESA update 1.2.0.3e fixes a TPM security flaw

I've no idea why this security fix information is not listed on the bullet points for the release on the MSI support page for BIOS downloads :(

MSI Tomahawk owners are reporting issues with AGESA 1.2.0.3e, but it is a different board and BIOS, so could be unrelated to AGESA 1.2.0.3e

Also, at least one other motherboard vendor is making it so that BIOS updated with this version of AGESA cannot be rolled back to a previous version, which would re-introduce the security flaw.

I have no idea if MSI have done the same thing with this version for this board, but thought I would at least mention it for your own consideration...

Edit: just spotted a couple of Carbon WIFI owners stating issues with this BIOS in the same thread above, advise caution with updating right now.

Apparently the Tomahawk version disrupted memory overclocking and stability, and the Carbon equivalent has been removed too (with less complaints about this issue): I have managed to flash back to A4 no problem!

A50 out now for carbon. Anyone try it ? I am on a40.
I would suggest holding off trying it. I updated to it last night. The update went through just fine, loaded back into Windows right after it and everything seemed ok.

Now though, the bloody thing won't post. Code Ab or A6. Lovely.

RAM and CPU debug LEDs are on. After work I'll try to look into it more. Will try the BIOS flashback first I think.

7E49v1A63 came out on 8/8/25 and its double the size of all previous updates, coming in at 26.16mb!

support AGESA PI 1.2.0.3f.
Optimized Secure Erase mechanism.

I googled the Secure Erase Mechanism and it refers to:-
AI Overview

An "Optimized Secure Erase mechanism" refers to methods that securely and efficiently sanitize Solid State Drives (SSDs) by leveraging built-in firmware or specialized software, often employing cryptographic erasure or firmware-level commands rather than multi-pass overwriting, which is less effective and time-consuming for flash-based storage. Key methods include using the drive's own Secure Erase feature accessed via BIOS/UEFI or vendor utilities, cryptographic erasure that destroys the encryption key, and software tools like Parted Magic or vendor-specific software that interact with the drive's controller.

I've not updated to this bios as yet as my system is stable at the moment but may update in the next month or two.

No. But when you populate the 2nd gen5 slot (m2_2) the GPU lanes will be halved to 8x. Limitation of x870e and all boards like this face CPU / GPU lane sharing except the ASRock boards which only have a single m2 gen5 slot. Unless you need the sequential read write speeds you'd be better off using a gen5 m2 in slot 1 and a gen4 m2 in slot 3 or 4 which use the chipset and don't share lanes with the cpu

Just got my system up and running but the boot times are really slow, like from a hd 10 years ago.

9800x3d, sn8100 ssd and 32gb 7600 ram.

Any ways to speed this up?
