i'll explain why. I’ve seen this many times, cyclists don’t stop behind the truck, but when they reach a red light, they cycle up and stop next to it. I’ve noticed the same behavior with buses. It’s not the drivers’ fault
100% and I ALWAYS stop just behind the vehicle that's at the front which could be I'm behind 3 vehicles, I never move up.
However it is very rare that if I get to the lights first that a motorist offers the same courtesy but will drive straight up on my right side and start revving to hopefully beat me on a left hook.
At that point I learnt 14 years ago to hold back and just let them go.
