Mafia: The Old Country

What is the issue with UE5? Can you give examples of other games that use this engine that are also with issues due to UE5 being used?

There is only one engine I ever noticed in the world that makes the game rubbish, and that is whatveer engine elder scrolls still uses. They seriously need to upgrade that rubbish

Stuttering, random low fps spikes, weird graphical glitches, and crashing - it seems to be pretty much guaranteed on any UE5 game, for example Until Dawn, Silent Hill 2, STALKER 2 all do this, along with this new Mafia, which Paul mentioned earlier.
I'm very surprised that you're unaware of the issues everyone faces in the UE5 games released to date.

I guess because I've not played any of those games listed. Perhaps also because most games I play are on xbox, so stuttering if I do experience, I'd put it down to the xbox limitations.

Is DBD on UE5? Edit: turns out it does, and that game on pc stutters, oddly on xbox less so which is how I play mostly.

Oh right. I wish you'd said you were just a console gamer, pages ago in this thread, I wouldn't of thought you were trolling as much then ;)
Yeah it's a weird one, most of the console ports of said UE5 games, don't seem to have the stutter issues, I'm not sure if that's because they use VRR and barely can hold 30FPS with all the eye candy on and most of the time are actually faking 4K with 1440P and below switching up with variable resolution and refresh rate?
Either way, you can understand that when you have a higher end gaming PC, it is not amusing for this to happen on PC but not on console (as much if at all)!

Of course. Pc gamers are a bitter bunch ;)

I guess a better question to ask would be, what benefits does mafia 4 have by being on UE5. It'll come with negatives for this engine, but perhaps there's features in the game that wouldn't be possible without being on ue5

Lol shhh console peasant :P
I'd rather they have used the engine in the Mafia 1 remake, although that was a bit dodgy in places, but good enough.
UE4 was a good engine however.
But personally, I'd rather companies make their own, TLOU, Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil, GTA etc, all show that it's possible to make a game look and run well.

Unfortunately it has become industry standard and it is easier to hire people if you use UE5. It is also not cheap to maintain and upgrade inhouse solution, since very few studios have the resources Epic has.

That said, Mafia 1 remake indeed had a great inhouse engine, looked beautiful and ran like butter. I had 90fps in 4K native maxed out in it, while I have 30fps on same settings in Old Country. And Old Country does not look three times better.
