We can, we just aren't paying 150 when the player has made his feelings clear he wants no one else.

At this point in time does that even matter? hes stated multiple times he wont play for them again. I suppose newcastle can pay him to sit around twiddling his thumbs or bank some cash and get him off the wages.

This deal hinges on us getting strikers in.

If he’s here come the end of the window he will come back into the fold. Player in his prime ain’t going to sit on his arse!

Liverpool can most definitely afford him, the issue here is one of time and a domino sequence. If Newcastle cant get in the replacements then Isak wont go, if the teams that Newcastle want to get the replacements from - cant get their own replacements, then Isak wont go. Time is the factor now, if it all does happen, it would probably be one of those 'in the last hour' of the transfer window that all the required dominoes fall into place.

Right now though, whether or not we get Isak is right at the bottom of my transfer window issues. We've shown we can score for fun even without Isak, what we've also shown though is that we can concede for fun. We could still win stuff this season scoring like we are right now with no Isak, but we arent going to win anything conceding like we are at the moment. If push came to shove and the window closes with only 1 more signing making it in time, I'd want it to be a CB rather than a CF

So he has put in an official transfer request?

To be fair if the window closes and Liverpool don't come back with a much improved bid it's them he should blame, they knew the clubs valuation and they haven't come close then left poor Isak dangling. I'd love to see him not play until January when it all starts again, but I think he will move.
