Yes i agree using a phone whilst driving is bad, but most of the people he finds are people sitting doing 0 mph waiting for traffic to move. Granted still illegal, but still. You cant compare that to someone using their phone whilst doing 30 or 40mph.
Either way, im not going to condone any use of the phone. My thoughts on him are still valid. He is not a safety hero. He is a youtube content creator

If people are that worried about the consequences of being caught using their phones whilst driving, then there's this one neat trick that people are doing to avoid getting in trouble!
Not sure what's this 'dude' was caught doing, but if having a driving licence matters that much it's pretty stupid to be breaking the law.
Bear in mind that it's either a very unfortunate coincidence that they were caught at it, or it's more likely habitual behaviour. No one loses a licence over a single prosecution for something like phone use, so presumably they have several prior convictions.

There will be a great deal of overlap between people who use their phone in stationary traffic and those who use it at 30-40mph.

Evidence of phone users causing said deaths being higher in urban? Rural is another topic I didnt think about but again is not being covered by Mikey. He wont bother doing this to farmers, I cant imagine why...
The sensible route would be to catch them doing it at speed, therefore there is no loophole.
But no Mikey got to be doing it in stand still where he can get his reactions for his views.

Yeah this audit stuff is bonkers.
I went down that rabbit hole once and I just do not understand what is mentally wrong with people that go out of their way for a confrontation with authority. British ones usually just turn into stupid yeah but, yeah but conversations until a sergeant or someone with a clue turns up.
The worst ones are in USA, some open carry state. 2 guys just standing at traffic lights with long rifle ar15 things waiting for the police to turn up, then have a potential life and death stand off with local cops about the legality of everything.... Being very stubborn to the point of tazers being used and an extremely stressful time for everyone.

You can use sat nav, the phone just needs to be in cradle.. silly I know but that’s the rules.
He doesn’t get paid by the police and some people would naturally say anything to prevent the loss of their licence/job. It is sad but I don’t have much sympathy for cabbies using their phones, especially when they have passengers.
People annoy me on Youtube too, like Mark McCann but I just hit the not interested button, don’t feel the need to hate on the guy. Fair play for making a success on the platform. Agree 100% on the audit stuff, it’s hard not to rage at that.
Luckily, the 3-4 days the Youtube algo was recommending Mikeys videos is over, I’m now onto how engines work and other rubbish.
I dont mind Mark, well not sure about his recent content, but his content about supercar stuff is good and when he colabs with people like Matt Armstrong, as its more of a motoring channel and aimed at people who are interested in supercars and motoring. But he does use the platform to expose people and companies (IE tesla is one of them) but thats a good exposing, as has shone a light on how tesla are ripping people off and taking their money.
I honestly dont know some of these youtubers earn what they do, its mad.
Now if cycling monkey ditched the youtube camera and focused on tackling phone snatchers and organised crime members and handed them over, without using it for personal gain of youtube likes and revenue for himself, then i would be supportive of him

What? he has already tried to catch phone snatchers? why not continue with this ?
He obviously thinks he is doing the polices job and gets a kick out of it, why not step it up a notch. I think it would gain him some more respect from the public rather than being the most hated man for targetting sitting ducks.
