I'm looking.to purchase a greenhouse, not massive, around 1mx2m. Ideally not glass as ive got two small kids.

What have you got...

Pretty pleased with ours that we got from these folks. Good aftercare as well.

That's a fair point, although I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible. It's to grow seedlings/ vegetables etc in before I move them to a bed in the garden.....which was my.wifes plan to.ssve money, fun with thr kids etc. However the kids aren't interested and im.sure I could have bought a lifetime supply.of potatoes etc by the time.this is finished ;-)

Might you better with a tall cold frame? More capacity with shelves if you are growing from seed and hardening off to plant elsewhere (compared to growing tomatoes etc to full size in a greenhouse).

Maybe something like this but maybe bigger? Polycarb rather than glass windows and £100 to see if it's something you keep using or not.

Totally agree with this sentiment. If cost saving is what's driving the decision then they're more cost effective ways of propagating seeds.

Further thought, Wickes will sell you a plastic framed & covered greenhouse for £35. 1.9m x 1.4m so enough space to pot-on etc in there if it's raining and definitely easy on the wallet.

Wouldn't bother with that. Looks similar to the one I got off ebay. Would collapse with a gust of wind.

I built my own greenhouse. Wood structure, Perspex roof panels and glass panels for the sides which I got for nothing. If I did it again I'd use all Perspex as a couple of glass panels cracked due to wood movement.

Mine is about 3mx2m and 2.5m high

I like building stuff though and much prefer wood to metal frame ones. Generally wood bought ones are pretty expensive so I just did it myself and made it to fit the space we had and built all the shelving and potting benches too.

I used to have a greenhouse with plastic perspex instead of glass. The perspex started to break after a couple of years, and then a storm completely destroyed it a few years ago.

Since then, I’ve bought a glass one off Facebook, and it’s been rock solid ever since. There are plenty of cheap glass greenhouses on Facebook Marketplace, and I’m pretty sure you can also buy safety film to attach to the glass to make it much safer.

Used to do that for a couple of years before I got a real greenhouse, but as mentioned they really don't survive a decent wind, and at best are good for 1 season.

I've got an Elite Greenhouse https://elite-greenhouses.co.uk/ which I've had for 3 years now - has been great, and spare parts for my model still easily available etc.

Don't forget an Autovent https://www.baylissautovents.co.uk/ which is a game changer (especially if you are at work on a hot day and forget to open the window!)

Wifey has been bugging me and that looks perfect. Do you know if it’s just freestanding or does it need to be secured to a wall?

Given that I didn't get a chance to secure down our 3m x 4m toughened glass greenhouse before a day before high winds and it moved a good 50cm across the ground... I can highly recommend you attach this to a wall regardless if you "need" to or not :p

I built my own greenhouse.
I built my own too. I'd do it again for sure and would learn from mistakes I made the first time out to do something even better.

That Amazon one looks pretty small. Ok for a few seed trays but will soon be full if growing tomatoes or needing to keep any pots in there over winter.
