Google Pixel 10 Series (10/10 Pro/10 Pro XL/10 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 4)

I have still got mine in the basket.
I have 9 Pro XL but fancy something smaller like 10 Pro.
I just don't know if I would regret getting a smaller phone.

Some reviews are in.

In essence. The G5 chip is pretty lame. Next to no improvements in battery life or heat management (how is that even possible?) and the cameras are the same as last which which is the same as the year before that.

Google. WTAF. This is how you celebrate 10 years of Pixel?

That's disappointing, are they reviewing demo units?

I'm hoping for a massive upgrade in battery life!!

It's youtubers who've been given the phone a couple of weeks ago...

I'm waiting on the gsmarena review for a definitive answer on battery life, though initial take is disappointing.

Yeah things don't look great.

Hoping that the majority of these have been running pre release software and something pops out in the next week or so that helps things. Samsung tend to do the same thing now.

But yeah, that's rough.

This is why they loaded up the reveal with lots of celebs . First generation of a new processor was probably going to be disappointing , second generation i.e. g6 will probably see big improvements.

My mind was made up when running the Google comparison tool, this is a Pixel 9.5 Pro XL

They could have just stuck a large silicon carbon battery in. 6k would have done.

Phone was due to be delivered today but paid for Saturday delivery now as we are away.
Saves hustle of rescheduling and not sure DPD would deliver in their own in Saturday anyway.
Will be keeping an eye on here on everyone's phones pics

I was just looking at the 10 pro to roll the family's phones up.
I have an 8, wife has a 6, son has an honor x7a. With Google store trade in on the x7a, it seemed a reasonable upgrade route.

Comments here making me rethink however...

People always expect 100% improvement from a next version of the phone and it rarely happens, yet people like them and are impressed and happy.

Overall, the Pixel 10 Pro XL comes across as a good smartphone. But for the asking price, good simply isn't good enough.
Which has been a pretty common thing for people to say since the Pixel line came about with it's flagship prices and yet we keep buying them because in real world use they are to a lot of people much better phones than the paper specs suggest.

I do think people get very obsessive about specs in the discussions on these phones.

If I ever skim a comments section it will say something like "that CPU was trash in 2023, bin" or "nowhere near enough RAM" and then in the real world people are complaining because their bank says they won't support a 8 year old version of Android any more.

I guess if you're playing things like FPS games you'll notice performance far more than I ever will.

The issue for me is more that I don't think about specs, I just use my phone like any other tool.

If it can do something different - e.g. wireless charging, meaning I don't have to plug it in all the time, I'll notice that.

Faster charging I might notice as well.

But if the camera, CPU, RAM is 10 or 20% better... I really doubt I'd be able to tell. So I'm hardly going to justify spending a few hundred quid on a phone if I can't easily articulate why it'll be a better tool for me.
