For many years I've been trying to remember this game, I've done a few searches, asked on forums and even tried chatgpt but no answer was ever exactly what I was after, then today I thought I'd get a couple more C64 games for my r36s as I've not played it in a while and the thought popped into my head again.

So, same as I could have sworn I've done I searched for it and the first result was the right one! Who knows why I couldn't find it before today.

A few details aren't what I remember, it scrolls right to left not the other way around and I'd have sworn blind that the mech was a brown/cream colour but unless there is a VERY similar game out there then this must be it.

My battery is charging now and I'll see if it scratches that itch.

It was late so just checked to see if it loaded but not had chance to play it yet!!

Great game. I had the big box version which had fantastic art work.
In the early 2000s I sold many Amiga and PC games in big boxes due to space saving, they sold for between £1-£3 :( No-one wanted them back then but no some go for hundreds.
So wish I had kept them as the art, disks and leaflets were so nice to look at and mostly in excellent condition.

Walker, Leander, Shadow of the beasts (1, 2, 3) and many more.

Got it working with WinUAE, had to get a system ROM and it's a bit faffy (load times are looong and I can't find the warpspeed option!) But I've played a little fo the game and I reckon games have advanced a little since then :D

Set floppy drive emulation speed to turbo.

Reminds me of a game I'm struggling to find any information on, I believe by the same people who made Botkiller 1 and 2 on RISC OS, was an early 3D game similar in style to Earthsiege and was supposedly coming out for the Acorn and Amiga platforms but was late in the day for those platforms and so I believe never got to release but I played a tech demo which had some really cool music and then the game vanished.

I’ve got a full workbench 3.1 os installed on a a1200 in Winuae with virtual hdd & rtg graphics. Works great. Like this (but on desktop as no longer have the Steam deck)

Its crazy now what can be done in WinUAE, there’s a video on youtube of a guy who’s connected physical Amiga hardware devices to WinUAE with adapters and they work.

Ive got a Zipstick and OG Amiga tank mouse which work well.

Edit - AI overview lies ‘WinUAE cannot directly use your real Amiga hardware’

It most certainly can. Will try and find the video, its pretty old.
A guy connected a physical RTG graphics board and it worked with a commadore monitor connected.

Set floppy drive emulation speed to turbo.
Enabling turbo on floppy emulation can cause issues such as loading fails, endless loading, crashes or guru meditation errors.

Better to install either use standard floppy speed emulation or best install games to virtual hdd.

Did this game an atmospheric opening 3D rendered cinematic? I could have sworn it did, and I remember it reminded me of ED-209 off of Robocop. But I've gone and and a look at some YT videos of the game and they don't show this into, just some 2D animation as the titles. Am I thinking of another game? Anyway, the animation stuck in my mind as I was really in to the Amiga 3D rendering scene at the time back in the day, with the likes of Sculpt 3D, Imagine and Real 3D. I actually bought Real 3D for real, it was like £300!

I don't recall the opening I'm afraid, if there is another similar game I'd like to know too!

Iron Dignity?

Sounds a lot like it but I remember the tech demo would run on an A5000 if you had an 8 MB RAM upgrade (I can still remember the screen on my A3010 saying it failed to allocate something like 6144KB RAM) though really needed StrongARM and mentioned an Amiga version, that looks like it required StrongARM or PC as a minimum. But things may have changed from the early days.

Yep, it did. The atmospheric intos / music / 'cracktros' to Amiga games have stuck in my head since i've been a kid.
Shadow of the beast series, Alien Breed and Death Mask come to mind. Some used to give me nightmares. The unique music / sounds were incredible for the time (and still are IMO)
