I don't think I've seen it that low before.Pretty low water levels at Rutland Water at the moment revealing the usually submerged remains of old buildings that were demolished when the reservior was constructed in the 1970s

I saw something similar in the Peak District over the weekend. The River Manifold near Thor's Cave was completely dry. Thought it was a bit odd when crossing it to not see any water there.Pretty low water levels at Rutland Water at the moment revealing the usually submerged remains of old buildings that were demolished when the reservior was constructed in the 1970s

Yes thats exactly what it is japanese maples need a cool sheltered spot out of full sun which will scorch the leaves and strong winds which will do the same, and not going short of water they will recover given better conditionsYesterday, MIL asked us to pull up a "dead" red leaved shrub (Japanese Maple??), apparently new leaves were quickly turning brown and dying. Yet yesterday, this ~2 foot tall shrub had a cluster of leaves that looked a healthy ripe peach red/orange, I'm no gardener but I thought it was simply showing bad signs of stress from the hot dry summer without getting enough water. Most of her garden gets the strongest sun all day and was scorched brown, only the strip by the fence boundary getting shade looked green.
My part of S Somerset, highs of 18c over the next 2 weeks.Wet again, but not cold, approx 21C outside and 21.8C in our lounge with most windows still open (but justy one of two in lounge).
Hoping that predicted Indian summer lasts into the first week of October!
