Has anyone complained to Jet2 before?

Quick update from my post yesterday – Jet2 have actually replied (non automated), so at least there’s some traction. They’ve said it can take up to 28 days for them to review everything, so now it’s just a waiting game.

I am also going down how much of it felt mis-sold. For example, the jet2 website clearly advertised an air-conditioned gym with cardio kit, free weights, sauna, whirlpool, and open daily 7am–9pm. In reality, the gym was closed every Sunday (!) and restricted on Saturdays (and really dirty and dangerous, stuff held together by duct-tape) – never experienced limited hours like that before at any resort. (really trivial example), but i train a lot so it impacted my holiday :)

Even more glaring were entire facilities missing from the property altogether. Jet2’s website shows a children’s play area and certain dining spaces that simply didn’t exist when we got there.

In reality, this is the kids play area.

Plus stuff was really, restricted to all inclusive i.e menu's to padlocking things like ice-cream and water fridges. No mention of this anywhere on the website.

I wish i was joking. padlocks on the fridges also :) i could not even get bottled water before 10:00 am until they opened them. Had to go to a supermarket to get drinking water, before then for my gym session or load up the night before.

wedding or no wedding i reckon i'd have been on an earlier flight home. you're a better, calmer man than i am dude - i'd have ruined the whole thing for everyone if i'd went through the grief you had to. :p

I actually bit my tongue for the first 6 days (few days before the wedding itself). When my little one slipped by some steps into the kids’ pool. It wasn’t the fall that upset her, but within minutes she was screaming with a rash. A few of us tried to comfort her and ended up with the same burning rash ourselves . Looked like they’d sprayed pesticides or something around the pool.

Then that same afternoon I noticed the kids’ pool has a tunnel that leads completely out of sight of parents. Where do the kids pop out? Straight onto a clear run down to the beach and the sea, with no barrier. Two of the little ones in our group (3–5 years old) had to be chased down after bolting towards the waves. That got us talking to guest around the pool, as their kids were also bolting. We found out some guests had paid way way less than us for the exact same package/room. Reception admitted people get “upgraded” as room allocation is random LOL

i thought everyone knew they were terrible :S package holidays are so risky because all your eggs are in one basket. I'm sure there are benefits but i've never seen them.

I don’t do package holidays myself but tbh, I thought all the memes were just that, haven’t heard of anyone having issues with them, normally the opposite.

I know the OP didn’t have a choice due to the wedding but it shows it’s always worth doing that extra bit of research on the hotel.

Crikey this looks grim!

I had a break in Madeira and the Jet2 rep was on-site for handling issues etc. Wonder if they have cut down since last year. I paid for the Lux package or whatever its called, where in reality all it means is you get a few quid of drinks..

I went with Emirates Holidays this year to Raffles in Dubai, and crikey they made you feel like a celebrity. Private pick-ups, in resort credit and it wasn't that different money-wise to what we paid for Madeira. Also used amex points to upgrade me and the missus to J-Class on the way there. Dubai is a crap holiday destination mind you..

Or you just don’t stay in a total dive and you’ll be fine.

The last package holiday I went on was great. Full al la cart dining, fully branded drinks with whisky, brandy etc included.

Fully waited service for everything including drinks by the pool etc. It even had a patisserie counter and costa style coffee shop (included).

The only things not included were top shelf whisky and brandy, expensive wine, champagne and red bull.

I can confirm there were no padlocks on the fully unlimited ice cream either, nor did you have to scoop it yourself, someone would do that for you.

It wasn’t cheap or with jet2 mind.

We've been using Jet2 for years and never had any issues. However we generally book the same hotel chain so we know what we're getting. Once we booked a cheapo hotel, the room was a bit dated and the "spa" was a bit meh but everything else was still great.

I booked with Jet2 this year... and had a great time (sorry OP)...
Booked extra leg room and I had enough space to actually sleep on the floor if I wanted to, even normal leg room was more than the extra leg room on some flights.
The hotel I stayed out, I've been to before so I can't really complain.

To be fair the pictures on the website look decent enough and they also won a Tripadvisor travellers choice award in 2025 :o

Yeah, I actually went in with some hope it would be ok(ish) — just not what I’m typically used to. From the research I did beforehand, I already had my doubts and warned everyone in the group. Of course, I got told to stop moaning and that it would be “fine”… I was just being a snob.

Exactly — we usually stick to places like Ikos or Secrets, where you’ve got 24/7 room service, branded drinks, proper à la carte dining across multiple resturants with no panick getting a booking, private suite suite etc. I work hard all year so when we go away, we tend to enjoy. I wasn’t expecting that level this time, but honestly this place even fell short of the basics. Padlocked fridges, like 4 items on a menu in the all-inclusive (i waited 45 minutes for a tuna salad on the first day then gave up).

On day one I sent a pic to my mates’ WhatsApp group of the “prime spot” I’d secured by the pool. They legit thought I’d made it with AI and couldn’t stop laughing, as they know im kind of fussy when it comes to travel. LOL

We've had so many good experiences with Jet2 we always try to go with them.
Funnily enough 51 of us went to a Cypria Bay hotel in Cyprus for a wedding in 2017 and it's still one of the best holidays I've had.
We were about 5 hours late going out and 4 hours late coming home and every one of us received around £550 compensation from Jet2.
Got to say I wouldn't have been happy with those pictures you've attached.
