Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th - 31st August 2025]

Just because VAR ***** up far too often doesn't mean its not better than when there was no VAR. The issue still remains that they are just incompetent with it. You would have everyone clamouring for it after a few weeks if you took it away. Refs make mistakes. They arguably make quite a lot of mistakes. The problem is that you should be able to fix more of those mistakes with VAR but they are still making howlers weekly.

This really isn't true, our abysmal standard of refereeing in this country has ruined it because all VAR does is highlight how bad they actually are.

It works incredibly well in other countries where it was wanted and embraced, our refs never wanted it.
Which countries does it work incredibly well?

Oh-no-nana dropped….so we have Bayindir who I don’t have an amusing nickname for.

I am ever the optimist but I have my limits.

This team is probably the best we can put out at the moment, so fingers crossed.

LiVarpool and Varsenal have been assigned such names for a reason

Many times teams get better outcome over others utd had fergie time for reasons too.

Ultimately however it’s not any clubs fault its fault of premier league officials and who manages them. VAR has been a **** show since it was introduced and gets operated worse every season.

The tech behind it is fine it’s how it’s used and ran, the people using it incorrectly are the issue.

Every season seems to be getting worse from a decision and consistency point of view

Rather Heaven than Shaw

And might as well put a striker on because Cunha up there hasn't worked

I reckon a solid 1-1, assuming we can score

Wonder what the odds are for conceding from a corner?

Fergie (That's Lord Fergie to you non-believers) was pre-VAR though

Edit - and we're still the biggest club in the league but we don't get the decisions

Probably because we massively overpaid for him?

It's far too early to say that.

I think trying to drip feed a new player into the team doesn't necessarily work that well, I'd have liked Amorim to keep him in the team.

We've started well but it's difficult to be enthusiastic...
