Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th - 31st August 2025]

Before the season I said we should give him 10 games to show some sort of improvement, but have you looked at the fixture list. It'll be tough.

Last season was so exceptionally poor he had to start fast and we've stuttered quite badly.

I said our attacking players are better...

The keeper issue really hasn't helped us in terms of judging Amorim.

Yes the performances haven't been great but being realistic, they weren't ever going to be amazing, based on what we saw last season.

All we've done is get two new wide players. I'm not counting Sesko because it was clear before we bought him that he's 22 and not that great, it's not like when we bought RVP.

To me it's no surprise. This is why I've been "negative" about the state of the club.

So why are they not scoring then? Are they trying not to score? In the end you're as good as you perform. You can call yourself the best player in the world but if you don't do it on the pitch you're not.
To me it's pressure and negativity. I said it after we fired all the staff. It must be a horrible place to work and I think this is reflected on the pitch.

Point to the leadership.

A mixture of reasons I guess. I get the stats are in our favour, but they only tell half the story, I didn't think we looked in control for any of the second half. It's worth remembering Burnley are pretty much a Championship team.

I am hoping the new goalkeeper will help fix some of our issues at the back, and then we do need to sort out a central midfielder, somehow. Then we'll see if Amorim can turn the ship around after the international break, but I am currently of the opinion his tactics are hindering rather than helping us.

From what I saw Bournemouth played really well today. Their manager has done a good job since he's been there.

I said before the season that the keeper issue wasn't that bad in the grand scheme of what we need but this season so far has proven me completely wrong.

First game Bayindir lost us the game. Yes it should have been a foul but a better keeper doesn't have that issue. He just deals with it.

Second game there wasn't much to talk about, we should have won it 2-1 if Fernandes didn't miss his penalty.

Third game we don't concede either of those goals with even an average keeper. We also don't lose that shootout.

Today we let in one goal instead of two with a good keeper and the match is easy.

No we aren't pulling up any trees with our performances but you build momentum with results. Almost every game our keeper costs us a goal or more currently. You simply cannot go anywhere with that. Arsenal replaced their keeper who was doing well for them with a slightly better version.

City are replacing their keeper because they think he isn't quite up to scratch any more.

You are right - there is a lot of doom and gloom but we've only had a few games and the goalkeeper has messed up for most of them. Lammens is a young goalkeeper and he'll be under a lot of pressure from the start.

We need to start getting points on the board and build from there, the unfortunate thing is our run of games is extremely tough...

Also if they're concerned about starting him then we probably need to manage our expectations of him...!

He's been very open since day one. He called it the worst ever Manchester United team!

Perhaps the stress is getting to him.

I get that, he's been open about where the team were last season in regards to what you've quoted about the squad and that things were going to get worse before they got better (that season).

I mean he's never before now painted an open picture that he's either going to walk himself, or that he's not far off from losing his job (the bit about a decision needing to be made after the Burnley game).

Anyway - enough about us and Amorim, I'll wait until out thread is open.
