I'm actually warming to the idea of Emi Martinez more and more, you need to be a nutter to play in goal for Man Utd and he certainly is that.
He's not amazing but he's above average in most areas, and he'd feed some confidence into the defence.
Lammens is relatively young and inexperienced, and Antwerp fans say dealing with high balls isn't his strong point. So we could end up with another Bayindir situation. I actually think reflexes and shot stopping are becoming less relevant, just being consistent and solid with things like corners is more useful these days.
I think we needed tried and tested in the league, in the short term at least.
This though.

He's good enough for our current situation, yes. There aren't many top level goalkeepers around.
The only true elite goalkeeper in the PL is Alisson.
People think Lammens is going to walk into the team and fix everything and that is highly unlikely. He's got limited experience and will be under huge pressure.
Thought it was more the case he wants to leave.
Be a marked improvement over what we have now that's for sure...
I dunno if Martinez is a good goalie or not. I guess he's a World Cup winner so cant be that bad. What I like is that he looks like he is a big personality and I think that is vital at a big club. Onana or Bayinder offer no leadership. Onana bollocked MAguire on his debut and has been meek since. De Gea wasn't a big personality but after a ropey start he just turned out to be a very good keeper. If Villa also take Sancho that would be sound.
I’d like to see both come in - Lammens as no2 with a view to him replacing Martinez in a couple of years as no1. But that’s just me being all giddy and dreaming ‘cause we’re in the upper half of the table.

Apparently Villa are after a keeper so maybe during negotiations with Martinez you could leave Onana in a suitcase at Villa Park and hope no one notices.
