I expect so. Liverpool would have been entitled to if he failed his medical. You could have a term in the contract which only allows clubs to back out for specific reasons (eg failed medical), but that seems unlikely as it massively favours the buying club.

I'd argue that Brentford have done far worse than Palace. At least with Eze Palace have done a good job of getting creativity in (Sarr, Esse etc), and have goals in Mateta. Yes, replacing Guehi will be harder this close to the deadline, but they're such a solid side that they don't need to worry too much imo.
I think Brentford are down this year. They've lost their two best goalscorers, their holding midfielder and captain, an experienced goalkeeper (although Kelleher is a good replacement), and probably most importantly arguably the best "mid table" manager in the league.
