I don't why saying 'Utd should never have let him go' is such a shocking take.
Ten Hag win rate = 56%
Rubin Amorim win rate = 36%
If Utd sack him Amorim tomorrow it's going to cost them £12m just to get him out the door plus they then have to find someone else who might be employed so they will need to pay off that contract as well which could be another £6m to £8m on top (not even taking into consideration the changes they may want to make to the squad).
Because he was a poor manager. Saying "Utd should never have let him go" and using the current managers performances as proof is like saying you shouldn't have dumped your last partner because they only cheated and lied to you vs the current one thats verbally abusive. The suitability and performances of the last manager have no relation to the current one other than the fact EtH managed to cost us 100s of millions in wasted transfers/salaries.
It's shocking because he had 2 years to shape a team and failed to do so. His signings - players he wanted - were pretty awful and there was no sense of a plan at all. The 2 cup runs were good but we were pretty lucky with those in my view.
I don't think he came across well at all, he seemed a pretty unlikeable guy and to this day nobody has a clue what his tactical style was meant to be.
Amorim will face similar scrutiny at the end of this season, if he makes it that far.

Hes an emotional man and I think thats entirely true. I think lots of other struggling managers have the same thoughts. The difference is that they keep them to themselves.
It must be wildly frustrating for managers who are struggling and the difference between them being under almost zero pressure and being in a pressure cookie is simply a few players.
United should be in 3rd place, arguably second place in the league and we should still be in the Carabao cup. We have one of the highest xGs in the league so far and the only reason we where we are is because Onana/Bayindir are comically bad and Fernandes missed a penalty which is normally super dependable for.
I would be pulling my hair out too.
No the team isn't playing how he wants most of the time but when results are bad and pressure is on, sometimes everything seems to go against you.
Nah. He's a passionate guy, Latin init. He desperately wants to win and is very straightforward. Probably the most open book in current EPL managers. Whether that's good or not time will tell.
As an aside I was impressed by the way Scott Parker spoke after the game on Saturday. Very balanced and sensible comment on the way VAR is taking the game.
Whatever we think, the current sample size is only 4 games this season.
I said to review it after 10 games and that's what I think we should do, but the fixtures aren't kind...
I'd give him longer but his work last season wasn't up to scratch really (mitigating factors aside).
As long as we've put in decent performances I think it'll buy him more time, but I can guarantee throughout this whole season we'll only be 1-2 defeats away from a crisis. Is that really going to work?

If we played every game like we did against Arsenal then I would be very optimistic. The fact we had a diabolical performance against Grimsby and against Burnley we barely scraped a win despite dominating the first half it was very simple for Parker to reorganise at half time and get back into the game which has been a trope of us last season with Amorim. Fulham was a carbon copy too. We were lucky to draw that game in all honesty. It almost feels like nothing has changed with the exception of the Arsenal game. Yet we have brought in two forwards who got 40 goals between them last season.
It certainly does look like the team from last year, with two very expensive attackers tacked onto it... but I do think we need a few more games for a bigger sample size.
The Grimsby game was a bit of a freak performance and result, we'll have to gloss over that one.
I understand why we might say that. However I think there are some other positives.
- the club has managed to remove quite a lot of underperformers/ mood hoovers. Cultural reset? Lets see but it was a clear objective to move these players on and largely they have achieved it.
- we brought in goals. PL experienced players with a track record for scoring. Sesko is a punt a bit like Hojlund but he will get more service.
- squad depth is better. Look at our bench and reflect back on the match last season where Lindelof was the only 1st team player listed /7.
- the likes of Yoro, Mazraoui and DeLigt have a season under their belts which will benefit
- the training facility upgrade won't make things worse
- The coach hopefully will benefit from his 3/4 season last year
None of these things are transformational on their own but I do feel we are headed in the right direction with the only real question being our relative weakness in central midfield. I do think it is a big mistake to underpin your season on a seemingly first choice pairing of Casemiro and Bruno. However with one match a week maybe it is easier to manage the fitness and get better use from the squad as a whole. There are some signs. Better xG, certainly better energy from the team (Grimsby aside) but they need the confidence that back to back to back wins can give. Beat City and Chelsea and everyone will be saying we are back, when of course we are far from it but its Man United and these are the swings we have to ride.
First game of the season, Arsenal. Who amongst the utd fanbase wasn't a bit worried. Before a ball was kicked I said to my utd mates I'd be happy after the arsenal game if we were competitive, and boy we definitively were, and that performance really gave belief that we can have a much better season this year. First 20 minutes against fulham was the same, and then that game drfited. And then we had grimsby.
I'm still holding on to that Arsenal performance as the benchmark we have to attain each game, and for me unless there is a total collapse, I think Amorim will be with utd all season.

Teams are often a bit off the pace vs weak sides. The difference is that they usually just muddle through on quality. Grimsby played well and we were crap but it took 2 massive howlers to let them score and we missed some good chances.
As Robbo keeps saying, we probably need to give him the first 10 games to see where we are. Our keepers have already almost single handedly killed any good feeling around the start of this season.
