Dashcams!

Fitted it this afternoon. Seems to work very well indeed.
I've mounted the rear camera just above the rear-view mirror. It can see out of the back window with the roof up just about, and can see very well with the roof down. It was about the only place I could put it. Even behind the rear seats was going to get in the way of the roof mechanism.

Do you have any pictures of the installation?

I'm looking at this camera myself, just not sure about hiding all the cables away, and not making it look like a dogs dinner :D

It's dark now but will take a pic in the morning. I managed to get all the wires tucked away pretty well.

It's about 3" wide by about 1.5" tall. It's smaller than the Nextbase 522GW it replaced.
Thanks for posting the image, have done some googling and watched some youtube installs, is my information correct in that it simply uses the cigarette lighter socket?

I have considered getting one since I got the car last year, but install/ not trusting people breaking my clips/ the dizzying array of cameras to select, kind of has me stalled on it!

Cheers, I like the look of that, and also how well the camera performs. I need to figure out trying to hard wire the camera into the cars electrics without making a hash of it, ideally I'd like to wire the camera into the rear view mirror shroud electrics, apparently there's power there for the rain sensor. The cigarette power option is a no go, as that's miles away and would look terrible.

So after a bit of research, I've placed an order for a Viofo A119 Mini 2 with the Starvis 2 sensor. I like the compact wedge design, and it seems to review very well for the price.

I wasn't comfortable pulling apart the trim for the cabling, especially with the airbag proximity, so I've found a small adapter designed to take power from the rain sensor above the rear view mirror, that will plug in and power the camera.

Hopefully that should make for a nice neat install :)

Fitted the Viofo A119 Mini 2 & FitDVR adapter this evening after work.

A nice tidy install, although it took ages to remove the two plastic housings from around the mirror mount. I was being a bit too cautious in case of breakages.

The cables hide in the plastic 'tunnel' upto the headliner from the rain sensor plug, and my model Audi design is very slim with not much room for the extra cabling. At first I couldnt get the plastic to clip back with the extra cable, so I ended up trimming some of the internal moulding of the plastic shrould to make the cables fit internally. Everything went back a treat, so happy days.

And the camera footage is excellent for the price, the Starvis 2 sensor is surprisingly good at picking up number plates.

Yeah, it works quite well. With the roof down it's excellent. With it up you can still see enough through the rear window for it to be useful.

I hardwired mine as I wanted the parking sentry mode.
I'm looking for a new dash cam that doesn't break the bank and the F7N Pro seems good from what I'm reading.

How's the video quality, can it catch number plates during days and nights?

What is parking sentry exactly as I couldn't get a clear answer on Google.

How hard is hard wiring for someone who doesn't tinker with cars but is generally good with tech.

How's the speed of downloads to phone?

Thanks

Has anyone gotten around the issue of downloading videos to your phone via the nextbase app?

My 422GW just spins endlessly trying to connect to the camera which renders it pointless because I have no other of accessing them other than my phone

It was the same on my previous phone
