I have a 3840x1600 Alienware monitor, but it's around four years old now and probably time I looked at something new. But there doesn't seem to be any modern replacements. Top of the range OLEDs are all 3440x1440. Not sure I want to spend so much and end up with less resolution! Does anyone know if there are any 3840x1600 in the pipeline?

3840x1440 doesn't exist from what I can see, and 3840x1600 seems to have died a death likely due to panel size/cost standardisation

So 4K (3840x2160) would be the obvious move unless you specifically want an ultrawide

Sorry, I meant 3840 x 1600. And yes, I do specifically want UW.

In the same position. I don't think there's going to be any more, there's no hint, rumors or news about anything.

Dell Ultrasharp U3824DW is about the only current 3840x1600 model (but it's a 60hz model)

Seems that way, you either go for the 34" 3440x1440 or what I did was jump to 42" 4k (LG TV) from when I had the Alienware 38"

I've seen no monitor manufacturers considering this resolution I'm afraid, and not seen any plans from any panel manufacturers to develop further. The original panel was from LG.Display (IPS) but I believe it's pretty much dead now

It's a shame. I love my AW38, would be nice to just have an OLED version.

38" 3840x1600 is pretty much the same PPI as 34" 3440x1440. But nobody wants to go smaller in screen size :P

I think the high end, high res ultrawides are trending towards going big guns now (5120x2160!) with a price tag to match! eg: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-45-45gx950a-b-ultragear-oled-5k2k-wuhd-165hz-or-wfhd-dual-mode-330-mon-lgc-05059.htm

The other option, which is what I do, is get a good 'standard' 4k OLED 16:9 display and then run it at a custom res of 3840x1620 for games. It used to be a bit tricky to get custom resolutions working properly with HDR in all games (long story), but recent Nvidia driver updates have made it much simpler.

This is my preferred option that I think I will always do now, as I much prefer having a large 16:9 display for work/ browsing etc due to the extra real estate, but ultrawide aspect ratio for desktop gaming is so much better in all ways. And on an OLED, black bars top and bottom when running 21:9 is just a non issue. You just don't 'see' them. And if you do, it's "cinematic dude". Never bothered me personally with films, so why games?

Same here. Mine is the AW38 too. Great monitor. I'm tempted to get a 39" 3440x1440 as a halfway step. At least it's bigger than the 34" 3440x1440 that is my second monitor.

The LG 38GN950P is still available.

I'm running 34" 3440x1440 and was interested in the the 38" models for a while but it didn't feel like a big enough leap.

Now I'm aiming for one of the 5K2K panels at around the 40" size but this is because I want the increase resolution for productivity usage rather than gaming, where I'll likely be leaning quite heavily on DLSS at that resolution.

My monitor is 3840x1600..cheap brand but a Samsung screen I believe, it’s a 38” uw.

Good monitor and support for games has not been a problem.

I wouldn't do that - the decreased pixel density will likely result in a drop in image quality!
