BMW and M Power Owners

The tank on my 340i has clogged, but car is under AUC warranty. I exclusively use the BMW washer fluid, as much as it pains me.
It's not covered. Had the same issue with my 440i 2 months after getting it, I told them it was 2 months old and using bimmer fluid too. Not covered under AUC warranty

Has that always been the policy, as I’m sure I read people that used BMW specific screen wash, claims were resolved but those that didn’t were refused, unless it changed

Edit: Just googled it and there are varying stories of some having success with warranty claims and others that were refused. The worst one was a BMW owner that had been using BMW concentrate washer fluid was told they shouldn’t use it and should only use the premix only https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1668164. What a joke, only use our washer fluid but if it causes problems it isn’t our fault?

That’s exactly what I’ve seen as well. As I mentioned, when booking the chap on the phone even confirmed with me whether I’m using BMW screen wash, like it even matters if it isn’t covered on the warranty anyway?

Have you been using concentrated washer fluid as BMW apparently blame it on the levels of dilution, what a bunch of clowns. I added the link in my previous post

I use it at the concentration levels it suggests, but the reasons they gave for not covering it were:

I don’t drive it enough
I don’t use the washer fluid enough
I use the wrong concentration

Sounds like a lot of bull for “our product isn’t fit for purpose and we’ll give you a list of reasons why”

This happened on my E90 Alpina D3, bmw dealer said I had used the wrong washer fluid. I pointed out they had just sold me the car, so any washer fluid in there, was theirs. They covered the £90 cost.

That was 2012, so it’s been going on for years!

After testing out the Carly app on a work friend's phone and odb2 thing it read out actual codes (which seem to before I purchased and not cleared)

I had been using a Bluetooth odb and a copy of car scanner which does connect to the car and read live data ,has had graphs, gauges, numerical figures etc but was useless as reading anything . It would go through 120 odd checks.and come back with nothing

If I use Carly to keep an eye on the car, what do I do if something pops up ? And you want to tell BMW ? They will get you in and use their diagnostics ? Is it chargeable if car is under a Warrenty agreement?

Iv purchased Carly now and have a subscription

Carly are a rip off, do some research. Plenty of alternate options with more functionality which do not require a subscription.

Like? what ? i will possibly go for it next time, but i want something thats easy to use for the odd code and can read out codes

If it lasts a year great

Your not getting a decent one for less than £60 these days, and even £60 gets you a chinese type reader/coder before it starts getting to the good stuff which is a bit more

Anything less than £60 i tried a £15 bluetooth dongle with various apps on my phone, didnt read codes properly, borrowed a £30 reader from someone, didnt read codes properly.

Bimmerlink/Bimmercode - one off payment for each plus the cost of a supported dongle. However the supported dongles also work with many other apps unlike the Carly one.

Sounds like you’ve been looking for issues since you bought the car, I don’t know why anyone would actively monitor diagnostics?

lol wut ?

because i paid a premium for having a BMW used approved car with 12 months warranty.

Whats the point in paying for a premium of 12 months warranty if your not going to keep an eye on it? If something crops up, then yes i will look at getting it investigated and sorted through the warrenty, why not?i paid for it..... Im not going to plug it in every morning looking for issues.

If your not going to bother keeping an eye on your car you may aswel go to a back street dealer and buy one from them and save yourself some money . Also , i wanted to code out auto start stop. as my previous car had this enabled for half its life, and it eventually fried the starter motor which i then had to replace.

its also a good thing that i got a decent reader as it turns out that BMW had not cleared a bunch of codes from before they sold me the car, now they are cleared i want to see if it stays clear or if any of them come back. I know these were codes pre them selling me the car as carly tells you what milage they first reported on
