Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

Oh ! did Last of Us season 2 turn it round? I gave up part way through, so it got decent in the latter half of the show? thats good to know
More of an improvement on season one for me. I thought it started off strong so if you didn’t like the early part I doubt you’ll like the latter half.

E05. So this was their take on Alien. It was nice to see the Xenomorph get a bit of screen time but it's still playing second fiddle to the other critters crawling around.
Scares & suspense is none existant but it still managed to be the best episode so far.

And no 'children'

3/5

Pretty great episode.

Not sure how people with such character flaws get sent out on super important multi-decade space missions, and the Xenomorph still looks like ass, but very enjoyable ep nonetheless :)

We're halfway through.

Question - why do people torture themselves watching shows they don't like?

Hate watching has become such a massive thing and no one wants to hear positives. That's why there are ton of youtubers everyone knows because they pick apart every little detail so every one else can sit there nodding. They feel part of something. Then they stick around to tell you week in and week out what an idiot everyone else is for liking something.

I didn't enjoy Foundation or Wheel of time, I think they are both drivel but I found it easy to not go back into those threads ever again and good on those that enjoy it.

I'm loving this series, could it have been action packed and faster character development, yes in a movie I would expect it. Besides we have seen the Alien intense battles done to death and they are all the same now. Loving the build up and I like almost all the characters other than the brother, don't know why but he reminds me of a poor mans version of the scottish bloke from the mummy films.

people not liking this just don't like scifience fiction and wish it was pure horror or what? needs more splosions?

Foundations a 6.5/10 for me, carried by about 5 members of cast
Demezel, the 3 brothers and seldon basically carry a bunch of terrible BBC style actors with a lot of BBC doctor who style side quests

Even though they have stuck to the original films in terms of props, ambience and so on, the acting and Xenomorph behaviour is very different, I think people need to be able to differentiate between both as the series is clearly set for a modern audience with roots nodding to the original movies. There's no way a basic crew member would have simply escaped from a Xenomorph in the original films, Xeno also moves a bit too robotic.

But it's Alien, and scifi is my jam,a nd I am still enjoying it but still fair game to nitpick the differences. The VFX and sound are done excelelntly with a buch of cast doing a great job on the whole.

Yup, I've seen SO many tv show versions of movies and almost to a one they've been FAR worse than this. Doesnt justify the not up to scratch parts but does qualify it within the boundaries of expectations. Like so many tv show spinoffs of movie IPs, this could have been much much, so much, worse than it is.

exactly, it's ridiculous that someone can stand near one for more than 5 seconds without being instantly slaughtered.
It's almost like they let hosts live on purpose, what a prosperous modern idea

What next there'll be a little child about 6-10 years old that somehow survived alone in an alien infested base?

somehow she avoided everything and survived what modern rubbish!

:p they should upload her consciousness to a synthetic body if children are that magnificent at evading xenomorphs and face huggers

I think E5 is more what i expected this series to be. Going back to the Peter Pan squad is gonna make me go meh.....
I mean E5 is the usual alien in a spaceship crewed by morons plot but it just feels nicer?
Still it's ok viewing but still a lot why? Why? How? Why......

Octopus eye monster still my favorite character.

Epic smashing pumpkins ending too.
