Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Thats a shame! 5G routers aren't so bad. I would even take a look at Starlink and see if that works well in your area

I'm trying to get the cheapest price starlink is if you live somewhere remote and it ain't cheap starts at £75 per month , I have options at the £25 -£35 range for 500mb Vodafone, sky and virgin but will increase every April

I don't even need 500mb either I'm fine with 150-200mb just want the lowest price I see 5g unlimited data SIM at £15 rolling monthly or £10 12 months without price increase just need to test it out

I never realised how pricey starlink was! Thats much higher than what i was expecting

Playing the renewal contract game again apparently this is an amazing offer from Virgin Whatsapp

Big bundle
Mixit TV
Volt 1GB
Herocnc4/TV 4 what the hell this?
Weekend chatter
Virgin TV 360

For a lovely £107 lol considering I'm paying £55 a month now.

So we move to the next people down the line....

What are people paying here for sky sports and TNT with 1gb out of interest?

They won't budge on TNT they want £25 extra

Best they can offer me is £82 with current contract and sky sports.

I'm just trying to push for sky sports on top for £55 a month what I'm paying now.

So I have an spare old 5g phone I plugged it into the Asus router via usb and turned on usb tethering and it's using the 5g from the mobile network in speed test I'm getting around 300mb that's faster than the 250mb on Virgin think I'll try rolling monthly unlimited data SIM and see how stable it is, had enough of these broadband providers and price increases

Anyone got anything decent on adding sky sports to virgin?

Just opened a new account in July and I pay 39,99 for TV and 1 gig and they offering 35 extra for Sports HD

Was meant to be getting my services moved and installed to my new house on August 6th and it got moved to the 30th, as I posted a few days ago. They've only today hit me with a new install date of October 18th which is insane - 73 days later than they originally told me. As of now they should owe me about £150 in compensation and if they do go ahead with October 18th it'll be about £455. Insane. I'd rather they just told me they can't deliver a service to my address than fob me off with this madness.

put in my 30 day notice to cancel contract ending in october currently paying £25.80 250mb and will shoot upto £42.80 best I got offered was £20 that will include 2 April price increases :o been cable customer for maybe around 20+ years never had any alternatives recently got openreach thought would be for the better more options but Sky, BT, Vodafone all similar pricing

I'll see if virgin get back to me with better offer , I dont need the fastest speeds 250mb was more than enough mainly streaming , odd game download once in a while , I have been testing ID mobile 5g unlimited £15 rolling or £10 12 months no price increase one of the rooms its consistently around 300mb , but the room the 5g router would be placed gets around 200-250mb also I would need to invest in an 5G router

£4 reduction is all they can offer me on my current contract, I went through to cancellations on the live chat after dealing with the normal chat.

I follow Virgin Media Reddit thread and there people getting renewals with 1gb Sky Sports, TNT, Cinema and Netflix for £55 and under.

Yet best they could offer me was £72 for 1gb standard TV and sky sports. It's crazy how they can just offer different discounts to everyone.

Also now contracts have gone up to 24 from 18 months. I need TV options and I've read Sky Stream is crap compared to the old Sky Q box yet you can't get the box anymore!

My cancellation remains in but still yet to receive a phone call after a week.

Sky Stream has been fine for me, but it’s hardwired. I suspect most people reporting issues have a crap home network, use powerlines, or wifi etc.

I've had Sky Steam for a few years and had loads of frustrating issues over that time. However, after a number of updates it has been almost faultless in the last 3 months, very happy now. Have multiple boxes and both wifi and ethernet are fine. Don't be put off by the older negative comments.

I see I know it doesn't have a recording function but how is it for watching shows that have been on?

020 3743 6970 (VM rententions number) So I phoned this number and said I had a missed call I got it from Reddit off the Virgin media section, I see they actually did phone me but my phone blocked the number as spam.

Puts you through to english VM team they offered me 1gb with sky sports and sky cinema for £62 so paying extra £7 for sky sports and cinema on top of what I was already paying. I was happy with that tbh I couldnt be bothered to haggle anymore considering I was offered £70 plus and £80 for same deal before.

Of course its going to increase though with RPI but cant escape that and new contract are 24 months.

Id definitely try this number peeps and see what you can get well worth it.

As you say there is no direct recording but all catchup is easy to find and the Playlist function allows you to sort of record things (it bookmarks them centrally for you to stream later, dependant on broadcasting rights/availability though). What I like is that the various streaming/catchup services are well integrated into a single interface and search function. There are always quirks and you still need to reboot the box occasionally but it is simple to use (though with everything it can do it can get a little complicated for the older generation!). It is also nice that moving from SkyHD the boxes sip power and are fanless. Picture quality is excellent but as shown in the past there is always a chance of a problem occurring and until fixed earlier this year there was a long standing issue for many with the audio losing sync.

Sports I get but Cinema is rubbish. And Sports you could stream via NowTV for much cheaper. And there are ISPs who don’t do an annual price rise and it’s quite easy to lock the price in with Now.
