Just wondered what other peoples upgrade plans were thats still on a 3080? I'm tempted by the 5080 super (depending on specs and price)

I went for a 9070XT rather than pay the nvidia tax for a decent amount of VRAM. I was happy enough with the 3080 performance, it was a great card, just severely hampered by the 10GB VRAM. If it had 16GB or more I'd likely still have it.

Did you notice much of a difference going to the 9070xt? I tried to get one at launch and didn't...think im just going to wait now until new cards come out.

Not really, but then I really only play Apex Legends which will run on a potato. I have Indians Jones and the great circle, Cyberpunk and Horison Zero Dawn to try. I did some benchmarks before I swapped, let me see if I can find the thread. https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...080-to-asrock-rx9070xt-steel-legend.19000303/

3080, hold my beer! still on a GTX 1080, probably could replace it with a pocket calulator soon and it would be an upgrade.

But yes probably going to get a 5080 Super, been holding off for years.

How long's the wait for a Super?

It might be this/next month, it might be Jan/February.

Also, you're buying a Super that's got a relatively short lifespan as current gen-Nv absolutely will lock the next new tech feature to 60 series.

Imo, the extra vram will not be gratis, stock will be drip fed to increase pricing again and that'll put it back to the 5080 real world launch pricing=£1300+ for the entry cards.

Jump on a cheap 70Ti and enjoy all the tech and put up with drivers or undervolt a 70XT for very close performance to a 5080 increase your settings now-and get a cpu/mb platform upgrade with the money saved-which most likely will outperform your current setup running a 5080 Super.

You can use optiscaler to port almost all Nvidia's RTX tech over to AMD if you want more stable drivers.

There are rumours starting that the supers will be coming soon so I'd hold on a bit if you've managed to hold off this long.

Otherwise probably 9070 or 5070ti.

Had a 2080 super from launch until early this year, now on a 9070 xt, probably upgrade again around witcher 4 gta 6 pc time, and get the best out of those games

Also on a 3080. If they launch a real 5080 at a reasonable price then I might bite, otherwise will wait.

I did exactly this and would also still be on the 3080 if it had extra vram. I moved to playing at 4k so really felt the lack of vram.
