12+4 power adaptor with RTX 3000 card

My psu as a 12+4 pin you cable will this work with a 3000 card, or do I need a 12pin adapter

The 12pin socket on the 3xxx FE GPUs would need a cut out for the 4 pin bit to work and there may have other differences so no I believe is the answer.

It may do.

I used a Cablemod 12+4 on my 3080 FE and it worked well.

Just do a test fit first to make sure the 4 pin part does not foul on anything.

Just to add it works with the Founders Edition, but may not with other aftermarket brands.

Perfect I have a 3080fe.
I just wasn’t sure the pin out was the same .

I had a look for the reddit post that confirmed the Cablemod for me but can't find it now.

yep turns out it works perfect your just limited to 450w max draw,

Think it's the extra sense pins that allow it to draw 600w.

it was an FE model, the 3090 was known to pull upto 600w when overclocked
