Chinese cars

Seeing a huge number of these Jaecoo SUV's on the roads now, everyone cruising around like they’re Posh Spice(discount Range Rover). Had a look at the spec/price and suddenly it makes sense, hard to argue.

I seen one in the JLR dealership and for a brief moment just thought it was a quirky Velar.
They are everywhere. To be honest I don't know much about them other than they are one of Chery's brands. My experience of Chery begins and ends with a Saudi Uber which wins the award for the most warning lights illuminated on the dashboard with the car still moving under it's own steam :p

There is a JLR tie in with Chery of some sorts. Johnnycoupe will be the person who knows the extent of that collaboration.

jaecoo and Omada are indeed Chery on their EX0 platform and Chery is a joint venture site in china with JLR where they make Evoque and XF for china markets.

are we getting the new face lifted xpeng P7 in the UK this time? that and the new honda prelude (ok not Chinese that one) for me are 2 of the best looking (sensible) cars to come out for a while.

Partnering with a brand known for some of the most flakey electronics was probably a bad move.

mazda 6e is another sensible chinese offering (if it weren't so long). rwd/hatch

Maybe the chinese thing will just be a blip in the european market - looks like vw are upping their game, and market window for china to get momentum and convince everyone they have good build quality and designs gets reduced

Everything is Chinese now, doesnt matter what badge the car has, its Chinese

No it isn’t. There’s a difference between a car made in the EU with some parts sourced in China and a 100% Chinese made car.

Most EU manufacturers are moving away from China as a source for batteries for example.

Globalisation with China and Russia has been a failure as it made entirely belligerent nations far too powerful. The western powers are finally beginning to understand this. The race for ever cheaper labour, resources and chasing pure profit has weakened the west and made China a major superpower in a single generation. It is also what emboldened Russia to invade Ukraine.
