In fairness the applewatches are good for emergency contact. I was involved in a serious coach crash last year abroad
(sadly the driver was killed, we were all trapped on the coach etc), the watch alerted emergency services with location so I can vouch for it!

My ancient fitbit did all this years ago! My Watch9 was lovely but I was sick to death of it's rubbish battery life and the fact that updates took forever to apply. Glad I sold it so I can wear my proper watches as I no longer needed it for fitness or heart tracking anymore.

EDIT: "7-layer antireflective coating, reducing glare and distractions, making it more readable in bright lighting conditions." - Dunno if this will be the equivalent of a matte display, or just reducing glare slightly.
