If Piastri loses by a point, given the nature of F1, it's entirely possible he never becomes a world champion.

Not only Piastri, but Norris as well. This year may well be THE ONLY chance either of them have of being WDC. Once McLaren have sown up the Constructors beyond doubt, then the gloves and niceties have to come off between the two of them.
With the car changes next year, absolutely no one knows who will have the best car. Both Norris and Piastri must be fully aware that this year may well be the only chance either has to become a WDC. My view is that Piastri has a much more focused racing mind than Norris and when the gloves are off, will wipe the floor with him.

It was much worse with the Hungary call.

Piastri had no chance of getting after Max for the championship, he was behind Sainz and Leclerc in the standings. Norris had an outside chance
Outside being another galaxy. It’s not like Norris was able to overtake Oscar without the teams help so it goes both ways.

If Oscar wins the title, it’ll be somewhat memorable because he won it over a driver who people thought was quick (before they had a good car). If Norris wins it, it’ll likely be down to luck. McLaren aren’t helping either.

This could be the most boring championship rivalry that the sport has ever seen.

Mclaren boys at the next race:

After you sir... no, no, no after you... please no after you...
And then they roll over the line so closely even they can't tell who won or was meant to win. Imagine such a shambles happening.
Wait a minute...

However when both drivers were cleared to race Oscar could not keep up with Norris at all and dropped back. Norris was consistently the faster driver over this weekend.
If Oscar wins the WC by just 25 points or less we can clearly see where that came from..

Then Norris could've easily overtaken Oscar, right? All we saw was that Norris needed an assist to get back into 2nd.

Well no. If you want to talk about this race only - it would be down to the fact that Piastri qualified third and couldn’t get past Norris during the race until the team made a howler in the pit stop.
No way was Norris edged off of the track by Max!!
Maybe not the best word to use given their relationship in the past

Norris could have said no to the the agreement, the 'assist' was fair and if he'd said no then 2nd place would have easily been retained.
What you are ignoring is that Lando showed true sportsmanship in the agreement so as Oscar didn't come under any threat from Charles which was rightfully repaid by the team.

Cried big time last year in Hungary when asked to give the place back after a similar assist - sportsmanship when it works for him.

We all know Lando is quick but has terrible race craft so they had to order him passed otherwise he'd likely have taken both cars out.

Do explain to me what reason would lando want to pit 2nd if it wasn't to assist Oscar?

Precisely. Nicely laid out in broader transcript and it's spelt out explicitly to Piastri: "Launch map off, launch map off. Strat six, Strat six, standard out-lap. Leclerc crossing start-finish now. Oscar, control the out-lap. We are boxing the cars this way around to ensure you cover Leclerc. You are free with Lando once he’s ahead of the pit exit."

Piastri knew the deal, which is why he was so chill about giving the place to Norris.

This isn’t Hungary 2024 and look how Lando did this year, it's obvious you favour Oscar over Lando and that's fine, but really to state untruths, because Lando has just as good as Oscar and proved that in many races, is suggesting favouritism clouding judgement.
I don't really care which driver from Mclaren wins the WC, as I support the team not the individual, but I also think it would be great if Charles won it, fantastic if Lewis did and also Max, because it would wind up all the haters...

Honestly, I'd prefer it if Max won (based on what's actually possible given current points) - McLaren are boring but Oscar is the least boring, and arguable has more potential than Lando.

Nothing I stated was untrue. Lando couldn't overtake Oscar in Hungary and only got the place because McLaren tried to cover the car behind. Lando cried for several laps before begrudgingly giving the place back - if you didn't watch the race then fine, but don't make up things to fit your bias.

Not up to date with the discussion here, but surprised they managed to put together a 10 minute highlight reel. Very boring!
I don't think McLaren made the right call with their drivers, I can see it getting messy between them soon

Mclaren boring, what on earth are you on?
As has been stated Oscar could not get anywhere near Lando on Sunday and was under threat from Charles until Lando helped him out, this is fact not any bias.
The 2024 race has nothing to do with what took place.

It always make me laugh when they get 8-10 minutes out of these borefests. Preferred the 4-5 minute highlight reels, especially for races like this.

But they stopped it getting messy with making that call, and rightly so imo

This was after they spoke to Norris and he dictated the order they stopped in.
