**** The Official Apple September Event thread - Tuesday 9th September 2025 @ 18:00 BST ****

The biggest upgrade this year is the 15 Pro being fully paid off and it being such a capable phone, now costing me only AppleCare+ per month.

The regular 17 is a really solid phone now with 120hz, 256gb and A19. The Pixel 10 base with 256gb is £100 more at 899. Although no one is paying full price for a Pixel.

I've always preferred the lighter non-Pro models but the 60hz was a tough pill to swallow. Unless they do something ground breaking with the camera over the next few iterations my next iPhone will be a base model.

Lazy to ask here but does Apple care+ transfer between devices? Thought about it for my MBA but I doubt I'll keep it for three years which would make it a bit pointless potentially, mainly as I don't take it out and about.

I cancelled my S11 preorder this morning.

Reading a few Reddit threads, it looks like Apple have fudged the numbers on the increased battery life, the flick gesture is working on S10s with the wOS 26 beta, and given my stance on phone screen protectors, I don’t believe the hype of ‘twice as scratch resistant’.

So I’m weighing up my options but I’ll probably get an S10 and save a few pennies. Or maybe I will go down the Garmin route…

I've watched a few clips of the S11 bit, and other than 5g and the new glass, is there actually anything REAL between the S10 and the S11, does that extra life come from the different modem, or is it a case of they were testing the S10 using the old watch OS and the S11 with the new one, so its more software optimisations than any actual difference? And the 'features' like the hypertension and sleep score thing are all software and coming to other models, so what is the actual difference in real world terms...

I'm probably going to go out on my next work trip, and then see how people are reacting to the S11 when its in hand, well, on wrist, and compare it to the S10 when new and running the new OS...

Very disapointing from Apple, having watched that video about how greed has gotten the better of them I think they've really lost their way since Jobs and Ive left...

It's on the device, which if you sell, you'd need to transfer the plan to the new owner.

I wonder how many years Tim has left in him.

They've gone from trickling out a couple of minor revisions and one decent new thing, to doing stuff in software and doing next to nothing with the hardware, I'm sure the shareholders and beancounters are happy though... :/

Based on Reddit sleuths, the extra 6 hours of battery came from sleep tracking (i.e low power consumption) but also, the S10 figures that they’re comparing to don’t include any sleep tracking time anyway. So it’s a proper fudge, and lots of S10 owners are saying they get the reporting battery life of the S11 anyway.

It really does seem that the only difference between S10 and S11 is the tougher screen. I guess also an extra year of updates and compatibility when they inevitably bring out new software features.

46mm S11 GPS is £400, a refurbed S10 is £290 - I don’t think the above is worth the extra £110.

I liked the look of both the Air and the Pro.. Do i need the pro over the air is the question. I get £480 back for my 15Pro Max with them (Unless elsewhere is offering better) so making either £519 or £619(Not bothered about the Max this time). Makes it about £20-25 a month over the 2 years i own it. Hummmmm.. .

The question is what do you expect them to do with the hardware when we passed peak hardware years ago?

As above with going from an S10 to an S11 watch, you be mad to even consider it.

The S11 isn’t aimed at you, it’s aimed at people like me who are still using a series 3/4/5, of which there are many.

Exactly this, I'll be looking at keeping my Series 7 for another year, or, just getting a series 10, depends on deals at this point, although I am out of the country from the 20th of September until the 13th of October so we'll see if any airport deals are available...

I've got a Series 7 though...

The 10 will disappear off the market once stock runs so in reality, that a limited time offer.

It’s no different to buying a pre-registered car under the old number plate year when the switchover to the new plate happens. You might miss out on a minor tweak to the vehicle but you are getting a big discount.

To be fair, their hardware has mostly peaked outside of putting dedicated NPU stuff in the chips. Looking at the 17, coming from a 13, it doesn't feel worth the money even through there's a 4 year difference, but that speaks to the strength of the hardware.

I thought it was funny that the Watch 10 and 11 are almost identical but the 11 has some wrist flick nonsense that isn't on the 10 (maybe it'll be in a software update but I didn't see anything about it).

Having watched some real videos of the orange Pro, it looks horrible. The colour is very dull and not as bright as it looks in Apple’s videos.

The Air is the real star and that’s what will evolve into the foldable iPhone.

The more I think about this the more I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to upgrade either my original AW Ultra or my 3 year old iPhone.

There is literally nothing new that would make any difference to 99.9% of users.

As per usual it's a load of flash marketing gimmick yet it feels like people are fatigued now. What's worse is there genuinely used to be big improvements in stuff like the camera but now it's just trying to sell you features you don't even need (who needs satellite messaging unless you're taking clients up the Himalayas). The selling point of the the new Pro is, what, the camera? The iPhone still sucks compared to proper cameras but for about 5 years now it has been more than good enough for 99.9% of people to capture important life moments.

Also what is it with the obsession with thin products... who actually wants that Air?

I guess I'm just disappointed with Apple. It would have been nice to see the AW Ultra in a new design or some actual advancements in health features (sleep tracker LOL most people would be better off to ignore this nonsense and judge their sleep on how they feel waking up).

I think the iPhone has hit a plateau since like iPhone 12 or 13 I'd argue. Perhaps iPhone 15 when they had USB-C. But then....all the phones i mention uses the same verion of iOS so the way we interact with it is the same.

People don't go around shooting 28 years later with their iPhones, it's a halo feature, not a day to day use.

I'd be 100% skipping this one now that i've slept on it, and if next year's model is still the same fraction forward then I might break my routine and keep my 14 Pro for the 5th year.

Wrist flick will be supported on the 10 as it’s supported on the Ultra 2.

Would hope so since it's the same watch; guess they needed to pad out the marketing page to make it look better. They are generally decent with software updates on previous devices.

have we passed peak hardware? the battery life is shocking for anything google, samsung or apple watch. Garmin, amazfit, huawei etc seem to do 8-15 days easy with all same functions.

Don't see the fuss over the easyjet iphone 17, but then I've only ever bought Black or Space grey in anything apple so I'm not that adventerous. I'm just waiting on ipads and Macs/screens really. Since selling all my camera gear I have the money burning a hole in my pocket. I'm waiting to see if there's any new screens or I will try and get that Asus 32inch 6k screen and a new ipad.
