On a 13pro at the moment

Ordered a pixel 10xl but had bad pink tint so that is on the way back to them.

Eyeing up a 16PM as they are a decent price at the moment and offer a decent upgrade from the 13 Pro

But then again I may just slap a new case on the 13 pro and have done with it till next year

Keep in mind that the 17 has 4gb more RAM so going to the 16 will likely lock you out of certain features in the future (if you care about AI stuff).

I don’t think Apple really knows what they’re doing on the software side yet.

This seems kind of likely, but I do think its probably a long time away. Probs at least another 3 years away from Apple saying the 16 series is not enough

Yeah there is that but the cost savings will help and I can always upgrade again in a year or two

Dont think im going to be upgrading this year, most likely be 18 or 19 series. Not sure it'll be the fold regardless of whether it comes out or not

iPhones are almost too good for their own good. I'm still rocking a 13 Pro Max and USB-C is the only attraction to upgrading at this point.

They introduced apple intelligence with the advent of the 16 pro, and stopped people with the 14 pro from using it, so I wouldn't be so sure...

Yeah while USB-C is my only attraction to upgrading right now, if Apple Intenlligence is a good replacement for the absolute potato that is Siri then I'll be a lot more excited about upgrading.

They also added more RAM to the 17 and have noted previously struggling to get the models to fit/load and unload due to limited RAM, so while the 16 should last a good while, I expect it'll be locked out or just slow at using some of the AI features (assuming we ever get them).

USB-C is one of the reasons I've still got my 13 Pro Max. It's a horrible, unreliable connector.

That's a silly comment considering no-one has had issues with its reliability - you must be unlucky, Usbc is the best connector invented imo.
Only issue I have with it on the Iphone is dust getting in the connector, which happened with the lightning connector as well - other than that its been fine

Dust is far easier to clean from lightning as the port is empty, USB C definitely has issues, we’ve had multiple laptops at work which have worn out USB C ports and won’t charge.

Never ever had issues with Usbc and dust, even on my old 2016 mbp with Usbc plug charging.

Had multiple issues with lightning, dust and dodgy connections over the years

No, it's not silly at all. usb-c is well known for its unreliability, many mentions in this forum alone, never mind the rest of the internet.

Lightening can pick up pocket dust easily but it's also incredibly easy to clean, unlike usb-c.

I haven't used the connector on my iPhone since I got it as I have only charged with MagSafe chargers and the wireless charger in my car.

Battery health is still on 100% after almost a year and always charged to 100% overnight.

After reading this though I have just tried the USB C and it didn't work :p Had to use some compressed air and its working.

The lesson here then is:

*In the style of Monty Pythons 'bring out ya dead'*

Tape up ya ports! Tape up ya ports!

Random villager holding up an iPhone:
“But it’s still charging fine!”

gruffly:
“Not for long it ain’t… tape up ya ports!”

Another runs up, panicked, holding a phone full of lint:
“Look! Mine’s clogged already!”

sighs, pulls out a roll of tape dramatically:
“There’s only one cure… TAPE. UP. YA. PORTS.
