Lenovo Legion Go

I posted in the Retro Handheld thread about this, when it starts getting to £800+ to keep up up to date with more powerful handhelds, you have to consider whether that money is best spent on a better laptop or put towards a better GPU for your main rig, since you can always stream to a handheld when at home. At £1300 it is basically an either or situation. Fair enough if it is going to be your only or min gaming device, but if you have a spectrum of tech gear at home, then that kind of money could be used elsewhere.

A cool £1300 for the Legion Go 2

I think they've jumped the shark on the point of these hand helds like
It's a quality piece of kit but that's almost double the price of Z1 Extreme version.

Will wait for release hardware reviews but the battery life and the performance need to be a big jump.

Z1 Extreme with Steam OS probably still the way to go.

Absolutely mental price, i dont know what they are smoking. No way its worth it, not with a 15-20% perf increase at best, far better to just wack an egpu on the v1 near where you sit to play most and have a much bigger increase in performance. Should have been £799 at the most for the top version with 1tb.

Lego 2 or Xbox ally x!?!

Personally won't touch anything made by Asus. The appeal for me with the Legion Go is the versatility - if you purely want a gaming handheld there are arguably better options but the Legion Go is so handy for a wide range of uses.

With this cost being so high this time, I hope Lenovo can be bothered to put out more than 2 display drivers a year...

Hopefully will be able to use the stock display drivers with it, the original Go had a funny screen setup (native portrait screen) which required a modified driver.

I installed steam os on my Go S z2go the other day and impressed with the performance boost, can probably live without gamepass on it tbh so will stick with it for a while, but as mentioned the trackpad didnt work, came across this video on youtube and followed it (had to stick my win ssd back in to complete) and it now works to a degree, works fine in desktop mode fine, not in game mode, but when in game it does work, sorry if this has been posted before just thought it might help some

Not sure but is there a 32gb Z1 Extreme Legion Go S? I think that would be the perfect handheld tbh, well possibly with a bigger battery

It's on lenovo's website: https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/p/handheld/legion-go-series/legion-go-s-powered-by-steamos/len106g0003

Looks like Z1E Go S stock finally arrived as shared above. Ive always seen it as coming soon for the past 2-3 months.

It seems the £1,300 Legion Go 2 is due to Lenovo's £300 charge for 2TB storage.

If you want the Z2 Extreme Legion Go 2 for £1,000, just configure with 512GB SSD. £1,100 for the 1TB.

Still happy with my Z1E Rog Ally...

Until recently there was a argos bargain return store not far away from me and I swear they had the ally for around £200, should have snapped one up but its since closed down. As nice as the Ally and Ally X are the 7" screen isnt a patch on the 16:10 8" in the go s if you ask me, having owned the original 8.8" legion go i think the go s is the perfect balance in size and resolution, but thats just my personal preference of course

I bought the ROG Ally on release (May 2023) so I'm pretty used to the 7 inch screen.

The Z2E devices are a tough sell for me, since the performance upgrade is so small. I don't mind paying crazy money if the performance difference is massive, but screen size/memory/battery isn't enough to bother changing.

I'm keeping an eye on the GPD Win 5, the AI Max+ 395 is a beast. I like the external battery setup as well. Hopefully the price isn't too crazy

Totally get what your saying but when you have a 7" and 8" side by side there is simply no comparison
