The Great Big FFP Debate

Potentially not much as he was selling his stake in palace and the club were going to approach uefa regarding the situation. The latter had an earlier article on the BBC.
I’m hoping common sense prevails and they can compete. Hopefully the sale can be complete before any conflicted match can occur. IIRC he is also a minority shareholder and doesn’t have control of decisions.

I worry that the view might be the binary that they did not complete the paperwork earlier this year, but to me it doesn’t fit with the principle of sporting fairness.

It’s also the fact that these women’s teams are getting sold on a potential future value and not current market value makes it even more laughable. Ahh well Newcastle Woman team hase been promoted several times and current in the championship so I can probably see us going big to get into the WPL next season. Think most of the squad was let go this summer.

To be honest the whole affair is a fiasco. It highlights the absurd nature of the rules.

Man City can have real control of multiple clubs but hide behind it on paper.

John Textor had paper control but no real control. In fact he didn't even have paper control.

What ever happened about the 115? Everything seems to have gone very quiet on the case/verdict side of things
The hearing finished in December(?) but nobody knows when a verdict will be given. The likelihood is a verdict has been made but due to the complexities of the case, the amount of charges and thousands and thousands of pages of evidence, it's taking an eternity to write up the verdict in a way that either party cannot challenge it.

City have announced that they've reached a settlement with the PL and accepted that the PL's redrafted APT rules from November 2024 are valid and binding.

Soo City get their Massive over inflated stadium deal in the end.

All rather amusing!!
The spin put on this by City with their briefings is rather amusing.

City have always been able to have their Etihad deal. They’ve had it for years after all. The deal will be subject to APT rules that City tried and failed to have thrown out though. The same APT rules that capped the value of this deal previously.

With all the City stuff this flew under the radar for a while but this had been coming. Chelsea's new ownership self reported some of this post takeover and a lot more got exposed in the 'Cyprus files'. Similar to some of the charges aimed at City, Chelsea had been paying agents and players off the books to get around FFP.
