*** The Official AirPods {all gens} (and AirPods Pro [all gens]) thread ***

The UK has all features except Hearing Protection as far as I know.

Chinese, Japanese languages should be coming by the end of the year.

Thanks, it looks like the UK/Japan ones are the same. Just packs the ear protection feature.

Just out of interest, the Pods Pro 3's, still use the same H2 chipset, are Apple doing the same as they have done with the Watch 11 here and basically recycled the previous itteration of the Pod Pro, said its got all of these new features, where infact its just a case of stuff being done in sogtware that'll be available on older models as well?

The Pro 3's are physically smaller (albeit not by much) so I doubt they're the same internally.

But, hardware wise, if its still the H2 chip, other than a slightly smaller unit, are the new 'features' just software/firmware?!

The sound chamber changed so if you are an audiophile then you might like the "improved" sound quality, but thats what they claimed as opposed to reviews and real world use.

The rest are software really. If I had the Pro2 then i wouldn't be upgrading that's for sure.

Who wants to tell Apple that there is no SIMPLIFIED version of SPOKEN Chinese?

Simplified refers to WRITTEN, as opposed to Traditional Chinese.

Strictly speaking, it should be Mandarin. Since they can't even get that right, I doubt it will translate Cantonese or Hakka.

That’s funny.

I can’t wait to see how ***** it’ll be. The majority of the time it (Apple AI/Siri) doesn’t understand simple commands.

I watched a podcast today that someone went to the event and tested it with Spanish, he was impressed. However, in real life, I don't have much hope.

Real languages, has a lot of slang, especially with Cantonese, much less so with Mandarin. The other thing is that Chinese and Thai and many languages are tonal languages so you can imagine the difficulty the AI will have to able to translate. The meaning of a word comes not only from the tone of that word, but the tone of the words before and after it, context is key.

There is also the problem of the real world, the mics in the airpods have to pick up the other person, not the user. In a busy restaurant, lets say a waiter taking an order, that person might be the other side of the table or across the counter. There will be a lot of background noise. It has to be able to separate that voice from everything else.

Does anyone know if you need to sign for Apple deliveries? My AirPods Pro 3 are due on Friday next week and not sure if I need to be around.

I was going to order from Apple but the delivery date is not next Friday so going to chance it by walking into my local Apple Authroised dealer on the day and chance it.

What do people do with old AirPods when upgrading? My AirPods Pro 2 are fine but the better ANC is leading me to upgrade but you can’t trade in via Apple - Is recycling via Apple the only option beyond eBay?

wait for reviews, airports are not going anywhere any time soon.

I’ll prolly flog them. CeX is giving £114 if they are in tip top condition.
