Howdy,

After finishing the story of Death Stranding 2 I found myself going for the platinum trophy as I so often find myself doing these days.

Within an hour or so I realised that getting all of the facilities to 5 stars was going to be a very long, and very drawn out process. And considering that I had built nearly all of the roads and monorails it was going to be very, very mindless.

So, I connected my headset to the PC bluetooth and started catching up on my Youtube video backlog and threw in a few episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philly for good measure whilst I went through these missions. This went on for well over a week and I honestly really enjoyed this combo of mindless gameplay and watching stuff - to the extent that I am now looking for new games which have that same loop.

I had actually already done this with Snowrunner a few years ago - but I have played that to death by now and need something new.

So - does anyone know of anything that will fit the bill? I don't mind how long it is - The games would preferably be something that can be played without needing to listen to conversations etc.

I don't mind looking at MMOs either but I'd prefer they're free to play as I don't have PS Plus at the moment.

Thanks!

It may or may not tickle your fancy, but Powerwash Simulator may fit the bill, it's both mindless and bizarrely addictive at the same time!
Whether you'll be able concentrate on you tube/ episodes whilst playing at the same time I don't know.

I've sunk far too many hours into that game...

Horror fan? The Evil Within 1&2? great games, i am just playing through the first one on my Legion Go S at lunch.. :D Its still brutally tough.

Not really much mindless or a grind tho.. Destiny 2 maybe? Warframe? Or the first descendant?

PS I got the platinum on DS2 as well.. :D that Mr Impossible last mission and the adventurer ones were a ballache.

No mans Sky. Can ignore a lot of the stuff and just fly planet to planet scanning stuff or whatever.

Elite dangerous in VR. You can actually watch YouTube from your cockpit whilst flying to destinations.
Excuse me, what?

That sounds unbelievably cool lol.

Platinum trophy on the newer farming simulators are a decent time sink

You know what I've actually played one of these last year and you're right. Thanks - it's on the list!

Yeah I did think of The First Descendant to be honest. I'll have to look into it a bit more.

And I agree about the Mr Impossible thing lol. I failed that mission on my first attempt. I was very upset.

I tried playing this last year and I found it so boring. But, maybe if I watch something at the same time it might help... I'll give it another go seen as I already own it.

I have Stardew Valley in my backlog to play. Haven't even launched it, have some trepidation I might get really involved

Russian Fishing 4 ? Although that's just PC I guess.

Fantasy life I has some fairly long grinding for full completion, after a fairly short and easy story.

If you liked Snowrunner, then RoadCraft also offers plenty of grind.

Was just about to echo the suggestion for RoadCraft! I've lost many hours in it recently to gathering materials and resources, just to transport them across to the other side of the map to sell. There's a certain delight in just taking your time doing a fairly menial task. Not sure my backlog will thank me for it though!

I play Ship Graveyard Simulator 2 in this vein occasionally.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 as well, although it does sometimes result in me losing concentration and smashing into the central reservation...

For me it's partially because with kids around it's hard to play something without needing to leap off at any second, so something I don't need to pay much attention to works far better than a storyline I wind up missing most of.

I actually have Roadcraft already. I just need to actually, you know...play it lol.
Same. It's one I sometimes play with music in the background, as a slow burn.

I've heard about these games but the art style always put me off. Are they actually good games?
If you like turn-based tactical strategy, then they're great. You'd want to play a demo.
They're very much a certain 'taste' and very Japanese in ways, but you can grind forever post game and so they have plenty to offer.
