Borderlands 4 (2025)

BL3 and that pre-sequel thing could have been left on the drawing board for all I care. Didnt do anything good for the brand IMO, they wernt terrible but were cringey and a chore to play. Still grinded through them mind.
This though feels like a return to form akin to BL2. As you say the Gunplay is great, incredibly satisfying, especially crits, I'll never tire of blowing heads/limbs apart!!! Campaign so far is engaging. I'll criticise it in a sense that the open world stuff is a little overwhelming. I dont know if I should graft through the side missions and explore or let the natural course of the main story take over. I've been doing more of the former than the latter so far but I dont know if I'm ruining later game experience by exploring the world first.

Do you know what levelling up mechanism is being used? Do the side quests match to your current level? For example no point waiting until you are level 50 to do a side mission that gives you a lower level weapon or other reward that is redundant by the time you get there.

So far yes loot seems to scale with level. But then I've done missions as they have been presented to me before moving on. bar 1 or 2 side missions in the costal bonescape which initially missed. They seemed to reward similarly levelled loot so it seems to follow the theme.

You’re leveling up based on XP earned from kills and completing missions etc, there are also fixed challenges such as get so many kills with X weapon type or of this nature which award bonus loot or currency. And if I recall correctly the enemies dynamically scale with your character so they’re never to overpowered or easy compared to you, weapons drops are also similarly scaled.

I've never played a BL game before, can anyone explain why I would have a level 50 gun in my inventory already when I'm only level 5? I can sell it for 230k. I don't know where I even got it from. I assumed that drops would always be around my level.

Also, I'm not the best at following stories in games, but I have no clue what is going on or why I'm doing it.

DId you preorder (or buy from Loaded, which is actually a preorder key), because it sounds like one of the preorder bonus weapons.

The intro cutscenes (and tutorial section where you are shown whats in your neck) explained who you are and who the big-bad is, why you're trapped on the planet and why you need to face off against big-bad to get free

I've never understood those chest keys they give out. Is it just a way to keep people engaged with social media crap?

Just seems an annoying hoop to jump through, I know I rarely bothered with them when I played 1 and or 2.

Don't think 1 had them.

I know I gathered quite a few in 2 and 3, mainly for FOMO, but never used them, and already have two for 4.

I just think it's a cheat, as you haven't got them through gameplay.

I got the code for standard edition from CD Keys, so don't think I got any bonuses.

Starting to really enjoy the combat, absolutely loving sniping people in this.

Yes! I hate any kind of boosts or shortcuts generally. Like when I played an AC and for some reason had an overpowered weapon from the start which I wouldn't use but also couldn't remove from inventory.

You most likely will still have the bonuses, a lot of CD keys "standard" editions are actually "preorder" keys, I dont see any other way that you will have gotten a lvl 50 weapon apart from the lvl 50 weapons that you get given in the preorder reward boxes

Ok that makes a lot of sense. Thanks

The textures loading in on the guns is bothering me as I've noticed it now. Must be a way around it. Also WHY OH WHY is compare not on by default in the inventory:mad:

Yeah pre-order came with the Gilded Glory Pack which had legendary gear in it.

Noticed this as well. I saw there was a texture streaming setting in the options. Is that safe to whack up to the highest level does anyone know? Not sure if that is the answer here.

Not noticed that, have you turned on high texture streaming in the options ?
