Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 14th September 2025]

Who would you get in?

For me get someone in to steady the ship then get glasner in the summer. Especially if Palace win the Uefa conference.

I think this experiment of getting managers from different leagues just doesn't work. Much better getting someone who is excelling in mid table from within the premier league.

It will be interesting to see how someone like Frank gets on at Spurs this season as he will be the role model of someone going from a mid table team to one of the big 6.

I think our actual core team that we have now far suits a 443 anyway.

I think the system is starting to become a sackable offence now. Amorim's had almost a year with a full pre-season and the players look as clueless as they did on day one.

Things aren't suddenly going to click.

Who else can he blame?
Yeh believe it or not today's performance has shot any sort of hope I had for the season out the door.

Grimsby was pure comedy but meh, random cup nonsense and a dodgy keeper.. yada yada.

Today United all out of idea's. I don't think City were even that good either. United were just "that" bad :/

Didn't manage to watch the game properly but heard the defending from Utd was awful?

How can you still have a **** defence after so many signings(in a few years) is beyond me

I agree on Glasner and particularly after reading a story that he is basically waiting on the call when (likely not ‘if’) it comes, as it’s likely his last season at Palace either way.

But I don’t like the whole ‘steadying the ship’ part / interim. It never happens or works out well. Just get him in when the time comes and get on with it.

Amorim telling the media that he refuses to change, doesn't see a problem with midfield and we were just unlucky in moments.

Short of a miracle I think he's on borrowed time now, can't see many fans advocating for him to stay.

It's a shame as I do like him but if we're honest, he's done a pretty atrocious job on paper. If he was someone like Graham Potter he'd have been long gone by now...

We need to start setting up the team to win games, rather than setting up the team to implement a system that isn’t working.

Did you hear/ read your managers comments when talking to sky after the game, he's never changing the system. Better hope he can scrape through the season and spend another fortune next summer to solve the glaring issues

Sounds like EtH "stick to the plan". I guess they read the game differently.

Based on history that's about £1 billion spend required then. Unless they keep filling the squad with noobs

If, and it's a big if, he gets through the season a midfielder and a pair of wingbacks. Another 250ish. Although your shiny new striker is currently looking worse than Hojlund..

He won't get through the season, short of a miracle.

The standards are low but not that low. As Neville rightly said, we can't be 14th/15th in October. And we've got Chelsea and Liverpool in the next 4 games.

A good manager adjusts this team and it functions far more effectively. No two ways about it.

Unfair to really comment on Sesko, before today he hadn't even played 90 minutes in the PL. He did some pretty good things but it's all irrelevant without a cohesive team around him.

You finished 15th last season!! Any standards you had are in the toilet. He should have gone for that alone, I cant think of any other big club that would have accepted that.

Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland are your next 3 before the intl break, what's an acceptable points return from those 9?

I agree, and it would have been justified if they sacked him. He got one hell of a free pass on the condition that with some new signings and a full pre-season, things turned around pretty quickly. No sign of that.

A minimum of 6 really, but the pressure is going to be cranked up massively if we lose to Chelsea. Brentford look a decent side and beating them isn't a given by any means.
