i cant see a dedicated VR thread for this game, so here it is

£15 via CD Keys

I want a game that will get me back into games again, and i think this is what im after

Anyone fancy joining me in the evenings ?

i will purchase if we get numbers

Ach, wish I had time to put into something like this. Looks like it might scratch that Elite Dangerous/ Star citizen itch that needs scratched for a pure VR space sim

yeah

although i played a game called everspace, need to play it some more, but that's not bad

Yeah, Everspace was nice, but I never got it into it myself - didn’t have anyone to play with like I did for Elite at the time

NMS is no doubt an epic game, I tried it a few years ago in VR and just couldn't get used to the control scheme, especially when flying the space ship.

NMS isn't a very good space combat game in VR due to the virtual stick controls. You have to rely on a auto-follow targeting mode, which has its own issues.

Where NMS scores is the exploring and building. I'm finding it fun now looking for parts for building and upgrading my corvette. The ship building stuff is way simpler and more fun than Starfield, and it's cool to be able to walk around the ship you have built.

Elite for me remains the best VR game for space combat and just the experience of flying a space-ship.

BTW, another very good space combat game (admittedly with low poly graphics) is House of The Dying Sun. I'm surprised the dev hasn't made a Quest version.

This is my reason I don't play it in VR, my setup for flight sims and elite leaves the virtual controls for NMS inside my legs, I can't physically reach the ship controls... I keep hoping that one day they'll add the ability to use other controllers.

If they added being able to use controllers in NMS that'd be great, surprised they haven't already, have heard numerous complaints about the control scheme. What the game is, what it's about, what there is to do, is amazing but let down for some (like me) by that control scheme.

Me too. Tried a couple of times to get into it. It just really bugs me and eventually I just stop playing.

if you can use a gamepad you should be able to use other controllers also. appreacaite this may not be simple, but i remember there being options in some games for separate vehicle controls vs First person which were customisable

You can but the issue as I understand it is Hello games seem to have hard wired the throttle to a button (controller trigger or keyboard) so you can't map it to a throttle axis.

I know NMS isn't pitching for simulation per se, but to have decent flight sim hardware and not be able to use it grates a little hard. If you are ok sitting on a sofa with a controller its absolutely fine...
