Divided islands. War on the horizon. The epic saga of Hawaiʻi's untold story.Chief of War — August 1

“Chief of War” follows the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawai‘i at the turn of the 18th century. Told from an indigenous perspective, “Chief of War" is a passion project for creators Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who both share native Hawaiian heritage.

The series features a predominantly Polynesian cast, led by Momoa alongside Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka,Te Kohe Tuhaka and Benjamin Hoetjes.

Oooh could be great, while in O'ahu last year we did an island bus tour and the driver spoke a little about the islands unification which was really interesting (and very bloody) so hopefully this will be true to at least some of the real events

I tried but my worn out old eyes couldn't keep up with the screen action and sub-titles so I reluctantly gave up after the first episode

This is excellent, all Hawaiian with subs for the first few episodes, then a lot more English.

Felt a lot like Apocalypto to start with.

Enjoying this. It's beautifully shot and the acting is compelling. I like that they've used Hawaiian as much as possible. It does 'feel' authentic although I confess I don't know enough about the history and culture of Hawaii to know how accurate it is.

I can't stop smiling how one of the characters name is Kamehameha.
