Here's the dreaded vote of confidence.

It would be unwise to decide anything purely based on the game vs City, they are a great side (despite their dodgy start). You can maybe apply the same logic to the upcoming Chelsea game too.

While I will stick to the 10 games before we really decide anything, as I mentioned in the matchday thread, I think the writing is on the wall... we need someone better.

that doesn't read as though it's anything of the sort - unless i missed it as i only glanced through the article, there's no mention on any official line from a club spokesperson, as you'd normally see when someone gets the clubs 'vote of confidence'.

that article just reads like more clickbait man utd news.....they've even got the words breaking at the top of it......what news are they breaking - that there is no news?

Yes, it's unofficial but the implication is someone at the club has told Rob Dorsett at Sky that they are going to be patient with him.

It'll probably be followed up by others (like Simon Stone) if it's true.

i'd wait till someone at the club makes the announcement they are happy with amorim before wheeling out the 'vote of confidence' line though.

The lack of games this season looks far from being a good thing. I think it piles on the pressure. Even I, as an Amorin voter something shifted for me yesterday. We really can't seem to create much in terms of chances or when we do nothing is quite going for the team.

1. Mbeumo hits a great volley but Donnarumma pulls a brilliant save on debut
2. Mbeumo misses from 3 yards when the ball is fired at him
3. Casemiro misses from 5 yards
If fairness the game was lost for 2 and 3 but it does suggest luck is not on our side either.

That said I do feel that Shaw in the back three makes us a poorer team. Personal prejudice aside, I saw a lot of comments maligning him yesterday. Licha or even Heaven would be better. Shaw is part of the hangover from a losing mentality team. Our defence (keeper aside) was looking ok but now it looks very nervy.

If Amorim continues to pick Shaw and Fernandes as CM then I feel it's a matter of time until he sacks himself. It seems very obvious to everyone that it is not working and the one game a week is not going to be enough to hone the system. The start of the season was always going to be tough, playing Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Liverpool but unless he strings together back to back wins against teams then I 'm not sure how the pressure will be sustainable.

I still struggle with what to think.

We gave him a pass for last season, but then the knives are out within 5 games. It just feels like if something does happen, and they ditch him, then what was the pain of last season for?

I think it frustrates me that we went through all of that for some glimmers of good play, but ultimately more of the same from last season, as it’s really done a number on the team’s mentality. I like Amorim, but it doesn’t feel like he’s seized the opportunity and time he is afforded to make the team work. As Calpol says, Shaw? Why? And me… Ugarte… why? I don’t massively rate Mainoo, like some do, but he’s better than whatever Ugarte is.

I just want entertaining football.

I think you need to avoid the sunk cost fallacy over last season.

Amorin’s job is to make the team win more games. If he continues to not do that, then he needs to go. I’m sure he will be gone if he doesn’t turn things around before Christmas and at the moment, there’s no evidence of that happening.

We have been unlucky at times this season, but if we didn’t get that penalty against Burnley we would currently be sat in the relegation zone, out of the EFL and no Europe. Grim.

I think we're all still stuck in this mentality of time = success. It's pretty much a myth.

At a club like this, under this level of pressure, you have to be pragmatic and build things up gradually.

Amorim's had the best part of an entire season to take stock of the players followed by a full pre-season, but he's not learning any lessons. Playing Bruno in a two, sticking with Shaw... why.

Our squad isn't devoid of quality, and since he joined we've been the worst performing team in the league (ignoring the relegated ones). It's not acceptable however you try and justify it. It's shocking.

aye, dodgy system, square pegs round holes etc aside, we should absolutely be performing far better than we currently are. no one should be expecting us to plough through City or even, irrespective of their own current mini-malaise but we have to be doing better against the lesser teams and at the very least be able to give the bigger teams a bit of a 'scare'......... amorim isn't stupid (i think!) so surely he has to recognise that and address it somehow because if not he'll be for the highjump long before Santa arrives....hell he could be gone before Halloween at this rate.

Surely at this point it's a when Amorin gets sacked rather than if?
And at that point, you just sack him right?

Let's say you've got to January and you're languishing mid table, what exactly do you do?

We're in that familiar scenario, limping from game to game, but the outcome is almost inevitable... it's frustrating.

I don't see us putting any sort of run together over the next few games... if we do then fair enough, he can buy himself some more time, but results need to be the focus now.

The team is massively lacking in quality

Relegation is a possibility IMO, barring miracles

Lacking in quality for the top end of the table, yes, but relegation would be down to catastrophic mismanagement. They'd boot him out long before that happened and get in someone else.

If you think we need a miracle to avoid relegation then Amorim really has lowered your standards beyond all comprehension.

As outsider why isn’t it possible? Amorim nearly got you relegated last season.

You could argue only didn’t as he didn’t start the season with you

Your form is no better now than it was before, if you get to December and you’re not past 15th place and close to relegation. A new manager may not fix it

Utd cannot let it get to point, if they do want Amorim out surely they have to act long before december

I think Amorim needs a miracle, since he joined the club it has been in relegation form.

Since INOES took over, the club has nose-dived. Can't put it all on Amorim.
